That's insane. He will probably lose his license and deserves to.

I wonder what kind of car the Indiana state trooper was driving to purse at 150 mph? I would guess, a 5.7 Charger R/T.

"If he was talking about the state of Maryland, there are probably better ways to get there than driving twice the speed limit in an $80,000 drag-strip car for 10 hours. There faster ways, even, like a plane or something."

Faster, yes, but not as fun. Plus the Hellcat is more than just a drag car.

They do have some Charger Pursuits with 5.7L, believe that car and the Chevrolet Caprice 6.0L are the only two police cars that can hit 150 mph right now, the Chevy will do 155.

I know I try to "pick my spots". There are a few...... the toll road all the way to Maryland is not one of them. Then again NOT talking above 125.

There's no sense in owning one of these things if you aren't going to ring it out once in a while...

He doesn't have a license to lose! Expired. What an idiot.

I don't bring mine up to where it could go due to this image I have of my car being abused in a tow yard. Scratched and dinged along the way (like they are going to take really good care of it in their custody or take any responsibility) after I am taken away. Not worth the hassle. I get my joys coming up to highway speed off the ramp.

Years ago shortly after getting a new Porsche I got on a turnpike/toll road -- I-70 somewhere in KS -- and drove some maybe 20 or so miles and then got off.

For some reason I was in a glum mood -- not because of the Porsche though -- and I guess it showed. I handed the toll booth attendant my ticket and expected to wait for what should have been just a few seconds for her to tell me what I owed. Instead I waited and waited. Finally, the attendant showed up and told me the amount. As I handed over the money and received my change and a receipt, the attendant asked me if I had received a ticket on the toll road. I answered "no".

After getting my receipt and thinking about the behavior of the attendant it got me curious and I looked over the tickets. I realized that my average speed could be calculated based on the info on the ticket I got when getting off and having paid the toll.

I don't recall my average speed but I'm sure it was over the the 70mph or 75mph posted limit but some considerable amount.

Since then whenever I'm on a toll road I'm careful to watch my speed even though I have a V1 radar detector and a handheld CB radio to listen for "bear" reports. My concern is if my average speed is too high when I leave the toll road and am at the toll booth the equipement can calculate average speed and if over a threshold could signal the attendant who would then inform a state trooper -- often one is at the booth if the booth is the last one before the toll road ends -- and I could be issued a citation.
