Laser car wash shock
I usually take my car to a Chevron station that has a laser car wash when I don't hand wash it. The one I usually go to had been closed for a few weeks, so I started going to another one with a more updated version. It's a tight turn, and the newer one drives the machine back and forth around your car on tracks on either side. I like it, but every 6th wash is free, and they give you the works. The works has these spinning brushes that come in and clean the wheels. Between the painted wheels, and the splash guards, not going to happen.
Anyway, decided to see if old place was open, and they are. I pay inside so they stamp the card, the line is out of sight, so you can't see the line unless it's very long, it can be a 40 minute wait if it's busy. Wait in line until I just see the opening, and see a machine moving on rails. Aha, so they were closed to update the machine...hopefully no wheel spinner brushes because I know the people there are incapable of just giving me the free $8 wash instead of the free $12 which gives you rainx, and tri color foam, crap I don't need.
Anyway pull up one more car and as the car in the wash is getting going...These roller spinning brushes come down and go along the top and sides of the car! WTF! SOB, they aren't touchless any more! No way my car is going through that monstrosity. I go to the car behind me, ask if they've already paid. No? Here, take this free $8 wash, already paid for. I wait for the car in front of me to finish the drying blower and pull out, I pull straight through and right out the other side.
Drove to the other place, and while paying ask the guy if I can just get the $8 wash when I get my free one, He says sure, I'll just cancel it and ring it as $8 and that will let him do that. So, they have my business for now on.
Turns out the other station has another brand now, and it allows both types of wash, with the brushes, or without. But no signage saying which if any wash is touchless. And with those geniuses incapable of giving me a free $8 wash instead of a free $12 wash, I'm not trusting them to know. Not getting stuck in a machine when the brushes descend! How can you have a touchless wash for years, change to a non touchless one, and not even a notice or new signage.
