2014 Core 6 spd, loud clunk at low speeds

Hi,
I just bought a 2014 Core, 6spd. Love it, but have a question. It has been a long time since I have owned a manual tranny and never have owned a car of this size/power with a manual tranny.

Now I will try to describe what I am hearing and when I hear it.

When I am in first gear and navigating slowing, for example in a parking lot, I push the clutch in and out a lot, feather it out to let it engage, then back in to let it coast, and brake when needed. About half the time, when pushing the clutch in to let it coast I hear a loud "clunk" coming from the rear of the car.

Not sure this is normal. Like I said, I have never owned a manual of this size but any truck or smaller manual never made a noise of that magnitude.

It's under warranty of course so I can take it in but wanted to get some thoughts here first. Hope I described it enough to get some feedback.
Thanks in advance.
Jeff

Don't sweat it.

Your driving skills with that car will improve, and the 'clunk' will become all but gone.

If your in a parking lot slowing, in 1st or second gear, and coming to a stop, try depressing the clutch slowly. Say counting 1000, 2000, 3000 until fully depressed. Driveshaft is a big hollow tube, it amplifies anything. IMHO. It's annoying for sure, but you can make it not do that. It will become second nature. (Although I could really do without this little skill set, lol)

Alot of folks are experiencing this with their 6 speed cars. Apparently, it's normal.

Not driving your car to keep your mileage low is like saving your wife for the next guy.

I have it too, I don't know what the noise is but it's definitely there.

Just a little backlash in all the parts that adds up to a lot of backlash making the clunks. They might say it is normal but seems a lot more noticeable on today's cars than vehicles of the past. My 06 Silverado had and still has lots of clunking and none of my trucks before had anything that bad. My Challenger will still clunk occasionally but I have gotten better at driving it. I like 2nd in parking lots better than 1st, once I get it rolling I'll go right to 2nd.

Normal ! Unfortunatly I think it has to do more because the rear end is solid mounted and the long two piece drive shaft. I wish they had stuck with a old school rear end. This provides better ride and handling, But for performance it sucks.

Thanks everyone for the responses, I appreciate it. Looks like I don't need to worry about it, I'll give myself time to learn the car better.

I had a 2011 SRT8 (pic in my sig) but that was an automatic. Loved that car too, but this 2014 for some reason, whether it is manual or the change in color to Torred just seems like more of a beast.
