Dodge Recalls Hellcats for Potential Fuel Leak

hrysler’s Hellcat performance cars may be blindingly fast but they can’t outrun a recall. These 707-hp versions of the Dodge Challenger coupe and Charger sedan may have an issue with leaking fuel.

Obviously this poses a fire risk and is a major safety concern. The potential problem was discovered by a dealer while conduction a pre-delivery inspection of a new Hellcat that had been shipped in from the factory. It’s reported that 2,211 vehicles are affected.

The leak is likely coming from seals located near the engine’s fuel rail, the component that delivers gasoline (and lots of it) to its fuel injectors. These cars are powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that puts out 707 ponies

Concerned owners can reach out to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles through their customer information center by calling 1-800-583-1403. Representatives said there have been no consumer complaints, accidents or injuries related to this issue. Drivers will be notified of the recall by mail.

First year model. Something like this usually happens. For anyone that owns a Hellcat, take your car back to the dealer, they will check or fix it. All will be well.

My dealer showed me an email where Dodge has no April allocations for any Hellcats.

We beat the hell out of them in testing without any fuel problems. I'm not sure what exactly the dealers found, but it may not affect all Hellcats. Maybe its related to the cold and sitting in it, seeing that they come from Brampton, OT. Canada

You're right! All is well! Now I'm not mad my car took an additional 4 weeks to get here. Apparently the very first set has the recall, considering mine wasn't on the list! I've bought several first year cars with NO issues. I am pleased to say I've had zero issues with mine, except those rear sneakers wore out quick...LOL

Agree. This should not raise unreasonable alarm. All new models have an issue or two and this one sounds rather minor when you compare it to say the Chevy Colbalt ignition issue, Ford Pinto gas tank issue, or Ford Explorer tire issue. Owners should take it back and get the repair. Case closed...

Well, I managed to delete and report my own post. I hate big fingers. It is far easier to blame my fingers than my computer skill level.

I pointed out that as one of the other posts said, these things can be expected. This is also a rather minor sounding issue. It doesn't come close to measuring up to the Pinto gas tanks, Chevy ignitions, or Explorer tires. My GM friends are attempting to make it a big deal, but it isn't....

Nothing that a Dealer cannot fix. It's normal.

Apologize for the sidetrack but I'm getting the same story from a local dealer here in San Diego, but he's saying they will not get another one "for at least another year". The current one they have unsold they want $20k over MSRP.

2014 SRT-8 soon to become 2016 Hellcat ?
