Update to Uconnect

Hey,

I've got a 2018 SRT 392. In the past six months or so, whenever I watched a Youtube video of a 2019 Scat Pack or Hellcat, I noticed the font on the Uconnect screen was different than mine. Specifically, it was kinda italicized compared to mine. Being that the this updated font made everything look newer and more "modern" (which made mine, in turn, look out-of-date), it always kind of bummed me out that my Uconnect was already looking old. I was always hoping that a software update would come along and give me the more modern-looking font. Basically, I was hopeful that one day I'd start my car and I'd have the italicized font. Well, today was the day.

I guess I've got three questions:

1. Did anyone else notice the update (if your car qualifies)?
2. What else did the update give me? I think I noticed more/different themes for one thing.
3. On these newer Uconnect units, how do I tell what version of firmware it's running? I believe it's some kind of button combination using the temp controls?

Thanks,

saint

So you got an over-the-air software update that just installed itself on its own?
No one will know for sure what changed in the new version. Obviously font changed. Probably more themes. A few stability fixes, and a few new bugs you won't notice for a little while. If you used the speed adjusted volume setting, it might be working now if it wasn't working before. Start pressing buttons on the uconnect screen and see what's there.

To find your current version, go to the main uconnect screen (maybe on page two) and select System Information. You should be able to find the software version and more. There is no hidden trick to finding software version number.

Also go to www.driveuconnect.com, click SUPPORT, then click SOFTWARE UPDATE. Enter your full VIN. This should tell you if an update is available and what version you are running now. Let us know what you find.

Sometimes you can find the release notes on what has been changed by searching by the firmware/software version. I think on the 2018 models you need to access the dealer mode to find that info. There are instructions on the forum on how to do it (hold temp up+temp down+defrost...or something like that).

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I should've specified the update occurred on its own. In the past, Uconnect has alerted me of an upcoming update but not this time. I also should've mentioned that I did go to driveuconnect.com and entered my VIN. Of course, at this time, it says no update is needed. I wish it could give me an update history but I guess that's asking too much. You mentioned it should tell me what version I'm running but I didn't see that. All it said was something like "Your vehicle is up-to-date".

I'll try looking under System Information when I get home from work. I know I looked around yesterday but I can't remember if I checked that particular location.

Thanks again!
