New 2017 hellcat but some disconcerting issues

Hey so I bought a 17 hellcat a8, after I made the thread about deep discount on buyback hellcats I opted for brand new. This car had just shy of 100 miles and was on the dealer lot about 290 days. I made an offer and walked away with it.

But as you'll see in my photos I'm wondering if the driver side had damage and was repaired but not told to me.

I attached picture of both side but driver side seems out of alignment, the plastic panel by the foot rest is not set properly and feels like half your foot is hanging off. Drives fine as far as I can tell but just seems like a lot of deviation on a 70k car.

Normal, I thought the same thing when I bought my 2017 T/A 392. I had to adjust the hood, trunk, wheel alignment. My driver side molding and A pillar trim fit like shit too.

cheers

I'm a professional collision repair technician. In my opinion something was done to the left (drivers side) of the car. Belt molding has obviously been removed and reinstalled (and it needs to be replaced. The retraining tab was snapped off during removal, that's why it sticks up at the back.)

Possibly the fender was replaced or repaired. Check all the retaining clips in the wheel area and bolts under the hood for tool marks or inconsistency side to side.

If you believe that your concerns are valid, you may need a professional for a post collection inspection.

I think I'll take it in to an auto body guy just to check. I paid a lot of money for this car and if the value is lower than I paid I deserve to be adjusted. Especially if a dealer is being sneaky.

How many cars do you think get sold a year that have been "repaired" Mr OregonScat? I felt as the OP with 60 miles on vehicle when purchased. Though I now attribute some of my cars issues to the "T/A" option package installed at the third party facility.

cheers

Nothing on my new 2016 Hellcat lined up when I picked it up, but it sure is fun to blow the tires off.

Not "normal" but hard to tell if it's from a repair or a "bad hair day" car at Brampton.

My '16 SP was built within the first couple of days at the model start up, and the fit and finish was outstanding. Much better than my '10.

I would go back to the dealer and ask WTF, and have them fix this. It's under warranty and does look terrible.

Best of luck

I don't have any idea. I do know that the damage needs to cross a threshold before disclosure is required (depending on state law and manufacturers requirements.)

I'm sure, some shady dealers keep everything in house and don't disclose anything

During my 3 years with Ford, I saw one vehicle, that was damaged after delivery to the dealer. 2015 aluminum F150, minor rear door damage. The damage was below Fords threshold and the vehicle was sold as new with no disclosure.

I saw several minor issues from shipping and again, minor issues with dealer trades. But these were more along the lines of dings and/or scratches.

I personally don't think the number is very large.

It is a 70k car but it is barely a wal-mart worthy body. I've looked at hundreds and all of the suck somewhere in body panel alignment. The body is made from metal about half as thick as aluminum foil too.

Your car actually looks pretty good and most likely hasn't been in a body shop....In fact it looks better than mine on the drivers door. A lot of challengers have that same look. Walk around back and look at the trunk on your car...it isn't perfectly centered either...

Enjoy it.

my 16 scat pack had lots of body panel misalignment issues and lots of paint issues (runs, prep issues). This one had 16 miles upon delivery.
my 16 hellcat body (except for hood alignment) and paint are much better. however, front wheel alignment was out. This car 29 miles when I picked it up.
