I vote for a replacement engine and a different mechanic. If they couldn't fix it right the first time go somewhere else. It's generally difficult especially if you don't know where to go, especially when most people would junk the vehicle, but this isn't a Camry or Civic. If everything else is in great shape though, replacing the engine would be the best bet.
