How do you change the oil filter from the top? I've never tried to reach for it from the top.
I have always done the oil evacuator on my wave runner and it sounds like a great idea for the Challenger too!

Can only do on the V6 for now since it has a top mount cartridge filter, one day probably all engines will be this way, the top side oil changes are so fast and easy.

I believe you need a 22 MM socket. Just unscrew, and the oil filter cartridge will be attached to it. Just give it a good tug to pull it off. The nice thing is if you haven't driven the car for an hour or more, no messy oil clean up.

To install the new filter... Place it down inside your engine. As you tighten the cover on top, the filter cartridge will eventually snap onto the back of the cover(lid).

Oddly enough......I still coat all of the o-rings and rubber pieces on the new filter with new engine oil, snap the filter onto the cap, then install / tighten the cap down.....

Trade in your 392 for a V6... Yeah, it's a V6 thing, sorry

Was thinking it was time for my 4th oil change so bought more Pennzoil Platinum. Then this morning seen my thread and here so looked and have only added 3600 more miles to my SXT since May. Guess I'll wait a little longer on the 4th oil change. 15,200 miles and counting. Still loving this commuter Challenger and the stock market has now made me enough for my 392 when I retire in a few more years. Stashing the cash for that beautiful day to come!
I've put 2 coats of Bead Maker on my car since my last oil change and also set up a 10'x20' portable garage to shade my Challenger till I get my big barn built. How sweet it is to park in the shade in Texas heat! LOL
