Yep at 26k miles. Didn't fail but was making the grinding noise...
The service department that you took yours to don the right thing by going ahead and flushing the system out. The service department I took mine too just did a half-assed job and left me hanging with the shavings in the cooling system and told me Dodge wouldn't pay to have it flushed out just don't sound right.

I'm one of those few fortunate one that has a great Dodge dealer and service department. They even gave me a loaner while the work was being done...

Well I'm a bit over 55k almost 30k miles from the first water pump failure and I think it's failing again! I noticed some engine noise last night and again this morning. I just started the engine and popped the hood and I'm hearing the same grinding noise from the water pump as last time just not as loud. Could just be the beginning of the road to failure SMDH. I'll have to make an appointment next week to get it checked out.

How much is it to get the water pump replaced out of warranty? Parts and labor

It’s really not difficult to do. I have never done any mechanical work on cars before I got my challenger except for oil and plugs. Recently I put on ported heads, headers, cam and pushrods by myself. Before that I put on a cat back and some other stuff.

The water pump can come off in two hours. I replaced mine a couple of weeks ago. You can do it.

I'm a service advisor at a Volvo dealer, and although it's not Dodge, I can't imagine they would give you a hard time about a drain & fill, unless they are real *******s. They should be able to write that off as part of the needed repair, no problem. I'm sure they would not cover the flush, but certainly the drain & fill.

Obviously this is a problem with these cars. I had mine replaced with a little over 11K miles. It appears with all the consistent problems that the Challenger has, Chrysler is perfectly okay with half doing a job or leaving a customer hanging when something goes wrong. I have had other issues, such as the back up camera and the radio. The radio has been replaced three times and still no fix. The last software update wouldn't take and no one seems to know the answers for solving any of this. In fact, there are multiple owners in a local car club here that are seeking legal representation due to the lack of effort put in on Chrysler's end of things. I will post an update on how things pan out for them.
