2019/2020 scat pack 8 speed auto common issues

Hello all,

I am considering trading my daily in for a new scat pack. (I currently drive a 14 ram 1500 outdoorsman) I've looked around the internet and spoke to my buddies that work in service. They mostly mentioned to replace the differential around 40k miles. I wanted to reach out here and see what current and past owners are able to share with their cars. Thanks in advanced.

At first I thought you were calling out the auto tranny specifically which I would reply it’s fantastic; always in the right gear ready for u to gas it. No issues here but I’ve only had my challenger for 5mos. Most bugs have long been worked out. For a daily driver, my only concern would be if you live in the Rust Belt. You will find tons of good info on this forum.

Same here, I have had as high as 23 MPG for 55mph 100 mile+ trips and 20 MPG for 85 MPH 100 mile+ trips.
Wish that the paddle shifters toggled horizontally vs vertically and were about 8 inches long.
Also, the cruise works very well!

Hello again, I also currently have the torqflite 8 speed. (Just with a heavier torque converter for towing) the 8 speed in the scat pack (destroyer gray) I test drove today has impressed me compared to the one in my truck. I am just wondering what will fail first that I will have to replace.

Well, My 2016 only has 9980 miles on it, approx. 200 1/4 mile passes and has absolutely no issues at all. ONE TIME my backup camera system had a brain fart and stayed on while I drove off down the street. I simply shut the car off and restarted it and went on my way. Never had that happen again. These cars are great, I have a lot of friends that have them. This is my first Dodge after owning NOTHING but Ford products which I also like...but I must admit, all the negative stuff I read on the internet about all the Dodge hate....that's all it is is hate and jealousy coming from people that truelly don't know what they are talking about. I have 2 F150s and 1 Ford Explorer along with my Dodge....I really love my car. Oh by the way, before retiring from the dealers, I was a Ford Master tech.
Sorry to rant, but to answer your question, I don't think these cars have any common outstanding issues worth mentioning. Most vehicle problems seem to occur due to the loose nut behind the wheel. I saw that DAILY!!

'16 SP with just over 27k (s)miles. Zero issues with the A8, and I love it.

A lot of "road trip" miles with Interstate, two laners, mountain, and hill driving. A ton of WOT blasts to speed. Never a problem or even a hickup.

Best auto that I've ever owned, and it's fun to drive.

I would buy an A8 again in a heartbeat.

I just got out of a 16' Camaro with a serious transmission shudder on the A8's as well as rear diff groan which they replaced . This transmission feels more solid and shifts smoothly compared to the Camaro for sure. I hope myself this A8 in the Challenger stays the way it is and have faith lol.
