Why wouldn't they do this??? I've said all along they should have brought back a vintage version of the Camaro like Dodge did with the Challenger. A newer version of a 1968!!
- Longer hood, so there's more room for different engines.
- Longer hood, for better appearance, and more metal to pass offset crash tests.
- Longer hood, so maybe better weight distribution, near 50/50.
- Longer hood, can we have a Slant 6 engine?
They should just scrap the Camaro altogether for now and bring back a retro looking Chevelle. I think I saw a concept version out on the internet a couple of years ago and it looked pretty good.
I really like the idea of a restomod car. I first discovered them when I was entertaining the idea of getting a Gen 1 Corvette. So many of the people in the Corvette community warned me about the impaired drivability of a 60+ year old car. Many of them suggested a restomod version. I went a different direction but maybe someday.
I saw that too - but we're talking about 4 years from now. Way too much time for things to change between now and 2023. Even if they are considering dropping the Camaro in 2023 as of right now, they could change their minds 10 times between now and then. By then, I suspect that electric cars will be more common and everyone will be looking for the sporty electric cars - so I suspect that the Camaro could come back with a vengence. Who knows. Just speculation right now though.
