Rebuilt Engines

Does anyone know if Mopar rebuilds their own engines, or do they outsource?

Outsourced.

PS - all trans/engine remanufacturing is done by a 3rd party. It's a 3-lettered company (not sure I'm allowed to name them publicly). I assume someone else here also knows/can mention it.

If a dealer orders an engine, and its on back order, how long am I possibly looking at to get it in? I've heard maybe 2 weeks, and I've heard 3 months.

It can vary...I assume you're waiting on a 392 service long block? 68293008AB?

That is currently on national back order but expected to replenish Jul 10 (as of now, but ETA is always subject to change). 46 of them should become avail as of then...

Do you know if it will be the 470 horse, or 485 horse engine?

The difference in 'official' HP ratings are related to the vehicle the engine is in (different exhaust manifold & intake design depending on the application, also there's some variance in the engine cals as well). Long blocks are all the same otherwise.
