Super Bee Trivia

I just learned two interesting trivia facts about the 1970 Coronet Super Bee, from Graveyard Carz.

Its unique split grill design was supposed to resemble the wings of a bee!

Also, the origin of the name, "Super Bee", has its basis in the"B body" designation pertinent to Chrysler's mid-sized cars, including the Road Runner and Charger.

Here's more 1970 trivia. For all of you guys who have shaker hoods, do you know that the shaker on the 'Cuda and Challenger R/T was originally known as the "iqecag?"

This stood for:

I= Incredible
Q= Quivering
E= Exposed
C= Cold
A= Air
G= Grabber

I'm a huge Super Bee fan. Dream car is a '68 Bee w a 383 4spd. Really basic fun, just like its cousin the '68 Roadrunner.

Most people think of the Roadrunner/Charger as the B Mopars. The Super Bee is actually more directly comparable to the Roadrunner than the Charger is. Same type of lineage as the Roadrunner, which was a hot Satellite/Belvedere, the Super Bee was the hot version of the Coronet. The Charger, originally a fastback Coronet, changed into its own thing in '68.

Out of high school with my 71 Firebird Formula 400 riding around with a friend looking at cars and stumble upon a small used car lot with a red 70 Super Bee sitting out front and that was it, he pretty much bought it on the spot. Had a lot of fun in that car, not crazy fast with the 383 Magnum and 727 automatic but was a nice good looking cruiser until his sister backed into it in the driveway lol. Crazy days.

I got to drive my bro-in-law's '70 Bee around for a week a few years back before he sold it. It had a 426 Wedge installed, don't know what the original engine was. Pistol grip 4spd. It was Blue so prob B5? I've got pics around here somewhere I'll post if I can find them.
