That's nothing. Barely an annoyance I bet!

What bothers me is when I fall asleep while sitting at a red light and roll into the car in front of me because my transmission was in gear and my foot only resting on the brake.

Yes, it was a perfect storm of dickish LEO and moron citizen that led to my blood pressure boiling over, I know that. Heck, even in the previous stops where I knew the cops were just stopping me for the car, they are usually cool. And I know most people aren't dumb enough to believe DRLs are my attempt to pull them over.
Yesterday the exceptions to both ran into each other while I was in the area though, and it is that juxtaposition that really got into my craw and stuck. But I left it all in the thread. I'm feeling MUUUUCH better now!

Weird?? Neh...comfortable is more like it.

3 hours a day, 5 days a week, 3500 miles per month I sit in the driver's seat of that car going back and forth to work...barely averaging 19 mph BTW. I don't know how much of that time is spent depressing the brake pedal at stop lights, but it is not an insignificant amount, I assure you.

As such, my legs tend to cramp from being bent up like that so long each day. A good proactive remedy for that is to stretch my legs from time to time during the commute. Some lights are waaay longer than others to cycle, and those are the ones I shift into Park and stretch my legs while I wait.

Your grandpa sounds like a stand-up gent who knows how to get things done when the gong gets tough. That's my kinda fella. I wish I had had the chance to meet him.

Thanks...they were surprisingly hard to get approved. And by that, I mean there was some effort to get them approved, where I had not expected any friction at all honestly.

But they were ultimately approved, and I paid for them. Now I'm just waiting for the inmates down Huntsville (I forget the unit's name) to actually make the plates and send them to my local tax office where I will pick them up and start using them right away.

Supposed to take 2-3 weeks, and I got them ordered on May 8th, so I've got a little more time left to wait it looks like.

Guess your getting what you wanted out of the Charger, a lot of attention.
Looks good but that's more attention than I would want.
There are definitely pros and cons to driving this car. The post's subject is an obvious con. One pro that I had not anticipated enjoying before I got the car is how I can go anywhere now that tends to have shady people doing shady things, and as soon as I turn the corner, the criminal behavior suddenly stops...or suspends I guess, as I'm sure it picks up where it left off once I am out of sight.

Sadly, I actually have a dash cam, but it's virtually useless to me due to its age, cheapness, condition, etc. I thought about pointing out I had a dash cam when the cop was giving me the 3rd degree, but it would not have been much help most likely, so I didn't say anything. The bass from my sub sets off the camera's shock sensor, making it think I just had a wreck, so it will automatically write-protect the file being recorded at that time. Since the camera normally just erases old files to use that space to record the new files, having them all end up write-protected eventually is no good. It runs out of room and stop recording basically.

So yes, I need to get a modern dash cam to put in there, post haste! In fact that's going to the top of the list of things to buy next!

Oh yeah that definitely bothers me more than knowing you put the car in park at the light.

BTW if you have some black vinyl tape you can prevent any future instances of mistaken identity.

Coming from a stick car your just forced to (old habits die hard) I do it all the time, some lights are long and I'm to lazy to hold the pedal against the ZF8HP90

I also make it a point to shift into Park as quickly as possible if I have just come to a stop from 50+ mph in a short distance. It seems like I read somewhere once that hammering the brakes for a quick stop and then leaving the pads clamped onto the rotors at the stopping point will do something to the rotors (material transfer, baking something-something, I can't remember the specifics, I just remember it's best avoided) so that their surfaces are no longer true.

Once they are in that condition, they will slowly get worse and start to vibrate like they are warped during heavy braking events. And once that starts, they have to be replaced because there is no reversing the damage done to them from cooking the pads on them after heavy braking.

I don't know how much of that is true, but it's reasonable enough to me to think it's possible, so I try to avoid it by never leaving the brakes applied after hard stops at intersections/stop signs. And while it's far from proof that it works, I can say that since I have started this practice, I have yet to replace a set of rotors because they started vibrating like they were warped. I have had that problem with other vehicles in the past, but not since adjusting my behavior, so who knows...
