Reduce the Odds of Being Ticketed

Here's an informative video in which an attorney provides advice how to reduce your odds of getting a speeding ticket.

Some great advice there. I never thought of putting the dome light on at night when I get pulled over... Which will hopefully never happen.

Now that's a great video. Of course, the best thing to do is not speed in the first place, and that is no guarantee, but it makes everything much easier, and you can then honestly tell the officer that you were not speeding, which he already knows. Some times they have an alert, and your vehicle may fit the description.

Some good common sense info there. Likes to talk, though. He could have captured the main points in a couple minutes. Took him 15.

Well, he's an attorney. What do you expect?

I doubt speeding will be the reason I get a ticket...more like a moving violation for squealing tires (625 ILCS 5/11-505), which it looks like in is considered wreckless driving.

I’ve been doing those all for years now , along with my pba cards and such. A little respect goes a longgggggg way. There was a time in my ram when I got lit up , but had no where safe to pull over. I made eye contact through my rear view and signaled I was waiting for a shoulder. He waved and proceeded to follow , after about a half a mile , he turned off his lights and waved me on to keep going. My passenger was in disbelief, but it goes to show what a little respect and awareness can do.

If someone was present to observe the squealing tires, the charge would be "exhibition of speed." Unlike speeding tickets, an exhibition of speed charge doesn't require that you travel above a certain speed. All a prosecutor has to show is that you accelerated unusually quickly, “peeled out,” raced, or engaged in prohibited or dangerous activity. Even if you never exceeded the speed limit, you can still be convicted of an exhibition of speed.
