At 40,000 miles I have experienced my first part failure. I have noticed on several occasions a front end shudder when applying the brakes slightly from high speeds. I'm rather easy on brakes since I have an aversion to using them :browsmiley: so I could not accept that the rotors were warped. I've never had a set of rotors "warp". This morning I started investigating suspension components and while my assistant pushed and pulled on the front tires I observed play in the right front tie rod end. Probably 1/8" which when transferred through the knuckle, spindle, hub and tire probably is enough to cause what I've been experiencing. Slight drag on the brakes throws the assembly into a wobble type cycle. That's my thought process anyhow. To you suspension gurus, would I be correct in my assumption?

Thanks for your opinions.

1/8" play in a tie rod end will definitely cause what you are describing. Should be an easy fix. don't forget to get an alignment

Pretty easy to warp rotors, especially if wheels aren't torqued correctly, if your tie rod had that much play, you'd feel it more than what you stated. You can check run-out on the rotor with a gauge.

I'm betting on front rotors. Pull them off and have them turned, probably $30 for both fronts.
