Considering a 2015 scat pack starts around $38k, does this mean the used values on older SRTs is going to decrease significantly? We can think of the 2015 scat pack R/T as a 2011 SRT with a new interior and new suspension geometry at a cheaper price. I've seen some used SRTs for sale that are actually more expensive than a new scat pack... LOL!

So what say you, has your SRT just lost thousands in resale value because of the new scat pack?

The scat pack, as sweet of a car as it is: its still an R/T. Of course a newer vehicle will be worth more than a similar or identical older one.

But I don't see a great decrease in value In Prior year SRT's because of a new R/T model.
If you look on autotrader, cars.com etc and price 08-14 SRTs you will see that they hold value pretty well.
As the cars gets older and depreciates slightly, the value comes down slowly.
With the brand/line SRT going away they may even increase slightly in value. There is brand perception and recognition that comes with the SRT model.
I LOVE the new scat pack, but just like in the 2015 lineup- its not an SRT and will always be worth less than the same year (2015) STR. Apple to apples of course....

Sure it has hurt resale value some just as it hurt the resale value of any used loaded R/T. If you buy these cars as a monetary investment you made a bad choice. You buy the car for the fun of driving it so a R/T scat pack has not changed the value of my car to me at all.

No, but the Hellcat might. The SRT was the top dog Challenger. Now it's lost that distinction. But I wouldn't hold my breath for bargain-basement SRT's anytime soon.

Scat Pack is just an option package, not a distinct model.

Great points here. But the Hellcat isn't a sole trim/model level in the lineup- its an SRT model upgraded with the blower and its goodies. But its still an SRT
Just like a ScatPack, an upgraded R/T, but still in the R/T line.

The scat pack isn't an add on package, it is its own model. The normal R/T is an add package to the SXT with the HEMI engine.

If you go to build and price you see that when selecting the model the scat pack is a stand alone model. It has different brakes and different suspension than the SXT/RT.

Only time will tell. You make a logical comment that the performance of the new Scat pack at a cheaper price will impact used values of SRT's from few years ago. I agree it will have an impact but not too much. Used car value guides aren't a good predictor now because these cars are just coming out and in the new generation challenger history there hasn't been an R/T with an SRT engine. For many folks thats all they want and could care less about the brakes and suspension. Those folks turning to the new R/T will impact demand which will impact used prices. But that's going to take sometime to run its course. I wouldn't drop my '11,'12,'13,'14 SRT because of the potential impact. I would however drop my '08,'09, and '10 with the smaller 6.1 because I thinks thats really where the hits will come. Now you'll have factory stock R/T's kicking the crap out of SRT's which really wasn't the vision.

Though, I also agree the new SRT will be an odd duck. Most guys (myself included) wanted the baddest Challenger I could get which is why I got an SRT. Now those guys are going to go Hellcat and the retro group that can't afford a Hellcat are going to go 392 with a Shaker. Personally, that would be my choice if it is wasn't for the Hellcat. SRT or not, that new R/T 392 with Shaker and middle stripe in B5 or Sublime is just awesome. You see the picture in the brochure...just sweet.

I see the non-hellcat SRT as future disapointment for the owner. Looks like a Hellcat from the outside but I suspect everyone will ask..."oh is that a Hellcat"...to which the answer will be NO. :-( I bet that gets old after awhile.

the non-heellcat SRT is probably going to be the rarest of all the models. Of course that's just my opinion

One of my favorite topics:surprise: I would have probably bought a Core but none of the dealers in my area would budge much on them. It made absolutely no sense to me that dealers were asking more for a 2014 Core than I could get a similarly equipped 2015 RT Scat Pack for with all the added upgrades. I haven't followed the prices as closely since ordering my 2015, but there are very few people who will be willing to pay the premium they are asking for new and lightly used 2014 and older SRT's, so eventually the price has to come down some in order to move cars. They are a great car so I don't expect they will be bargain basement with huge incentives.

KBB Value lists a Fully Optioned 2013 SRT with 25,000 Miles on it in excellent condition at $37,985 in my area if sold to a private party.

So they are holding their value pretty well. But depending on the deal on the Scat Pack - I would probably buy the new car.

Did the introduction of the SRT 392 diminish the resale value of the previous 6.1L SRT Challengers?

One could argue that every new Challenger that rolls off the assembly line diminishes the resale value of every previously sold one, but like Chrysler isn't in the business of maintaining our resale values, are they? :wink3:

Give it 6 months or so for KBB's value to catch up then I bet the value will drop more.... I think most people would rather go new with a warranty then used without one.

You're right about that. Damn few people are gonna spend $55k when they can get 700 HP for $4k more.

Sure, the price comparison between a fully loaded SRT 392 and a Hellcat with no options can come to a few thousand, but I don't see that as a realistic comparison. If someone wants the options (navigation, sunroof, leather, automatic, whatever), they're going to want those options on the Hellcat too. Similarly equipped SRT 392 vs. Hellcat configurations have a $11,000-$14,000 price difference.

I love the range of choices and trims for 2015. There's definitely something there for everybody.

Keep in mind the 2015 already has a lot more standard tech than any challenger before it.
True, their is the updated interior and exterior that most like. But the ones that
don't will be looking for used SRTs in good condition. I actually like the updates.

As for the $6k I'd have to build one again and see. I did it a couple of weeks ago
and the one I priced that was closest to my SRT was $44k +.

The new models have definitely effected resale of these, just look at the For Sale section here. Lots of people selling and dropping their price as time goes by. Maybe cause they have a new car ordered and need to get rid of it in a timely manner but since there isn't any takers its buyers marker for used challengers. You are kidding yourself if you think you can sell a used challenger at blue book with the added value of the 2015s bring.
