I recently purchased a 2009 Challenger R/T, and I am having an issue with remote start. Every time I try to use it sets off the alarm and it starts honking. I press the button twice, and the car makes a noise like it's going to start but then it starts to honk like the alarm going off. I have tried remote start with alarm on and alarm off. What am I doing wrong?

By the way, I love this car! It's so comfortable and so roomy! It has plenty of power as well!

My parking brake is also not really holding anymore. I think I might need new parking brake shoes, maybe some drove car with parking brake on and it wore out.

I wonder if something is triggering it, like the hood light switch not working, so it thinks the hood is open, or a door lock sensor not working correctly. I'm not sure, but worth checking. I'm sure someone will chime in with some more knowledge.

That is what I am thinking. I guess I will have dealer check it out when I go for oil change. I don't really need remote start any ways.

It'll be good to have for resale, plus, it can't hurt to get the oil circulating a minute or so before you tear off. Also, get that A/C "warmed up".

The parking brake has an adjustment - they use brake shoes (apply to inner hat of rotor). Similar to how Mercedes uses. Other makes can use the rear discs, but that isn't the case with Challenger models.

That is true. I could start it from my office and it will be nice and cool. Good point. I will get it fixed. It might not even be a big issue.

You think it might just need an adjustment? That doesn't too bad.

Odds are if someone had drove with the brake on, it would have worn the material down some. But there may be enough remaining that adjusting it will get it working.

Thank you! I a walked into dodge dealer in Valencia, CA. Worst dealer I have ever been too! The service rep made go to the parts department to get a price quote, so he then could give me a price quote on labor. He says he doesn't have access to parts prices. I was inquiring about the parking brake shoes and labor. Wow! It was a hassle to get a simple quote. I might give them a chance when I need an oil change. But not sure,
