My son hit something in the road yesterday, when he got home noticed the smell of gas and went under the car there is a black plastic looking box on the passenger side in front of passenger side rear tire. That box has an inch long hole in it and leaking gas. Any idea what the name of this part would be? and how to repair it? I called Dodge dealer and they tell me it could be a vapor canister but he didn't sound very sure. Any help would be appreciated.

the fuel tank is black composite (plastic material) and its ahead of the rear axle, straddles the driveshaft and the ends of it come out to near the rear jack points.

It sounds like you have a hole in the fuel tank.

probably search around your area for auto dismantling yards - the Charger / Magnum / 300 may likely be the same part number.

These models share a number of common parts under the sheet metal.
