My car is 6 weeks old - has 300 miles on it and when it's cold, it runs like crap. The idle is unsteady (and tach moves around in a 300 rpm range constantly). Driving while warming up feels like the transmission is changing gears all the time but I'm sure it's the engine surging.

Once fully warmed up - the engine still has a frequent stutter or what feels like an unsteady engine like the old days when we used carbs instead of fuel injection.

I asked the service advisor about it and a mechanic was standing there at the time. He said there are no
TSBs so why not wait for the first oil change and mention it again. I don't mind doing that but I wonder if they will do anything then. As some of you have said - if my car is malfunctioning - it shouldn't need a TSB to get fixed - but I wonder if the techs really know how to do anything except follow TSBs
. Seems like those are being used now as the easy way out. No TSB - check with us later. Still none - your S.O.L.

Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution? My car was built first week in March 2011.

I dont' have the V-6 is my 2010 Challenger as it is an RT. We just took delivery of my wife's 2011 Town and Country with the 3.6 Liter Pentastar. We are really thrilled with the car and the new V-6. It is smooth as sil and powerful, with none of the problems you desribe.

Do not return to the dealer you refer to. Find another dealer and speak directly with a service manager. This is a world class V-6 and you should expect and receive flawless performance.

I agree, that is not normal running. Its nice to have a warranty but after it expires and my advise...find a damn good mechanic. Not a dealership but a private mom and pop shop. See what kind of cars are being serviced. You'll notice when some one is gear head. You'll see the Buick Grand National, a Corvette, Mustang GT-500, etc....thats the place you want to go.Talk to him and his crew. My friend found this local guy, a four bay garage and full machine shop service. The owner and employees are true car lovers. Love what they do for a living, they live and breath car stuff, old and new. These are the guys that will help you for the rest of your cars life. I took my Challenger in there for rotate and balance of the tires and the car was treated with royalty. The wheels where taken out back, washed and scrubed clean from brake dust and said maintenance was done. The wheels were clean as is they just came off the line. I bet your sweet a$$ that a Dodge dealership WOULD NEVER do that!

You can take a quick look under the hood and check all of your vacuum lines. If you are lucky, you'll find something obvious like a line that got knocked off its socket or is cracked open somewhere along its length. Naturally, you should get that fixed ASAP as it is allowing dirty (unfiltered) engine bay air to get sucked into the engine, as well as causing a rough running engine.
