Don't worry the electrical grease will work. I haven't had anymore issue's since they replaced my handles and coated the connector's.

My keyless entry didn't work either. I had car in for something else and had the dealer check it. They found all sorts of computer errors and Chrysler told them to replace the door handles. Not very impressed with this but we'll see if they get it right.

Guys make sure you tell them to use electrical grease on the connectors. I feel like they really dropped the ball on the design they should have had a water proof cover for the connector.

Thanks for the information Guy's

Seem's to be the 2011 is having some teethnig problem's . So far no problem's with my handles . But trouble with the cruise at 80 mph and causing a rich # 1 bank of the engine . Dealer said the engineers are working on the issue . My car was builit in March . They all have issues. No matter what brand . Fingers crossed on this one . Also by the way. Learned yesterday after having the automatic fluid and filter changed in my wifes 06 -300C . It does not have a dip stick . Only the plug over the tube. The shop , A good Mopar mechanic took it to the Dodge dealer to use a gauge for all models to make sure the fluid was correct . So I guess our automatic Challengers only have a plug and no dip stick . Guess can look at it as a cheap way to lighten the car . LOL

OK, I got it too. My drivers side door handle is dead. Passengers works fine. I sure would like to see a service bulletin on this...

There is no service bulletin yet, they have to replace the handles and coat the connector if they don't it will happen again. If you don't do anything both handles won't work pretty soon.

Is this the actual fix? I have read mixed responses.

ok, Somebody check my math on this...

If changing the handle and applying contact grease fixes the problem, then why wouldn't just cleaning the contacts and applying contact grease not work?

The door handle must act as a switch (and only a switch). It seems to me that the handle completes the curcuit through your hand to the ground with no moving parts. I can not believe that the handle its self has a computer or chip in the actual handle. If this is the case then the handle would not need replacement, just a clean and a lube.

If that is not the answer then there must be a computer downstream somewhere that has the problem. If a corroded contact on the door handle caused a short or a high resistance that in turn messed up a computer somewhere... then that computer along with the door handles will have to be repaired/replaced.

I am just spit balling here but I can not believe that you would need to have only your door handles with out also addressing an upstream problem.

or

It can be fixed with a little contact cleaner and then contact grease (no replacement parts required).

I am hoping that it is the latter.

Tell me if I am crazy.

My brother-in-law owns his own mechanic shop. He showed me the dipstick that he had to buy (at $80 bucks a pop!) for the newer cars. A racket if you ask me.

My 2011 remote entry and outside lock buttons do not work for either door or key fob. I hate to take my car to the dealer. Last time I did, I ended up with a new door ding and 4 days without a car. GRRRRR!

I know it worked for my car and the other cars that were brought into my servicing dealership. The connector had moisture in it and contacts were corroded when they pull one of my old handles off. So I didn't want that back on my car anyway.
