OK, I just got my car fixed yesterday at the the dealer. They replaced the drivers side complete handle unit. It works just fine now. We will see for how long. I was unable to talk directly to the guy doing the actual work, so I could not ask him if he put contact grease on the connections. I guess as long as Dodge gets this figured out before my car runs out of warrenty, no big deal. This has cost nothing but my time so far.

Dealer replaced both of my door handle units yesterday and they both work now (for the first time). We'll see if this "takes".

The dealership is only a couple of miles down the road from me (although I bought from Bob Frederick) it wasn't a huge hassle and they were very good about doing the work. We'll see if it "takes".

No TSB, but it does throw a code. Just make sure they do the electrical grease on the connectors.
Can you be a little more specific on that? I'd feel funny taking the car to the daeler and asking him "Can you see if my Callenger has thrown a code about it's door handle?"

So if there's no TSB, all these folks that are getting their handle assemblies replaced are having it done via basic troubleshooting and warranty?

What's to say the new handle replacements won't foul up like the originals? Seems irresponsible of Dodge to rely on people (either customers or dealers) to read on forums that they have to be sure to add electrical grease to thier replacement routine.....and, not to get technical, but I assume "the connectors" are what connectes the replacement assembly to the vehicle - vs. connectors withing the assembly?

Thanks,

Dennis

Just take it to the dealer and tell then what it's doing. They'll hook up and see the code as part of their process.
As for the grease, based on the earlier posts in this thread, I asked the tech to put electrical grease on the electrical connectors when he puts it back together to make sure moisture doesn't get in.
Since I told him that the problem was worse when it rains, he felt that it made sense to do.

May 2011 was built in late February and the drivers door has never worked, the dealer stated that Chrysler is aware of the problem and that it may also require a software update... They are waiting for a TSB no mention of bad contacts...

Problems with `11 Chargers too. Here is a few comments from another forum:
hey guys. i recently bought a 2011 charger SE. the second day i had it the passenger side door handle stopped working. they replaced it and a week later the driver side had the same issue. they replaced that handle too. i spent some time with the techs, i know some of the guys i work at a shop around the dealer. they are having issues with the handles getting wet internally. the button on the top of my driver door handle would actually sqoosh like it had water in it during rain. now.. im having an issue with the driver door handle just randomly unlocking the doors when im close to the car. they are having some issues with the RF module mounted below the rear speaker deck in the car. i was told they have updated the handles to seal the water out. basically i think its gonna be a little bit until they really fix the issue with this sytem. i will post any new info i get. BTW the rest of my system works fine. lock unlock with the remote. they also told me they have some cars coming in that just wont work at all. so.. looks like were gonna have to wait for a TSB or a recall.

Passenger side stopped working as well now, hooked up to scanner at dealer and the code was something like this...

RH door sensor open canbus circuit
LH door sensor open canbus circuit

Looks like it is a mechanical issue as stated not software. My build sate is 2/11/2011 and I am going to wait until a TSB comes out incase they have an updated part don't want to have my doors taken apart more than they have to. I can live without the functionality, my 2009 Challenger SRT8 6sp did not have it... My 2011 Jeep GC Overland has them, however no problem with that one so far...

Well, as of yesterday, both drivers and passenger door handle locks are dead. They seemed to quit just after I went through an automatic car wash. I checked the TSB list and still nothing. Has anyone heard anything yet?
