To the few on this thread that underestimate Challenger's handling capabilities: Mopar Action magazine did an article a while back about a 'timed' Mountain road race in Nevada. The name of the race escapes me but it called by the numerical name of the hiway. (Google it.) One of the mags staffers entered the fray with a TOTALLY STOCK 2011 SRT8 that beat the snot out of numerous modified Camaros and Mustangs as well as several European Supercars. The Chally placed very high indeed and exceeded a threshold that put it in a class/club reserved for the fastest, best handling cars. The race is a real twisty road with cliffs galore(no guard rails)......one wrong move and your dead. It's happened. From my memory, the only thing the driver did was he swapped different tires and turned off ESP. Otherwise factory stock. Poor handling? Not really.

Its also a protection feature for the engine as well.

In the event of heatsoak or poor quality fuel, the clutch can disengage to protect the engine from detonation or overheat conditions should they arise.

Also, with the S/C not being constantly engaged, much longer life for that component. A full-time driven S/C would require more maintenance and probably require rebuils/refurbishing a few times over the life of the engine.

The Mercedes / AMG S/C 5.5 V8 employed a clutched S/C '03-'06 years.
Indeed.......My wife's '05 SRT6 Crossfire has a clutched SC and turns on at a certain RPM. Also the PCM monitors all SC critical components, e.g. inter-cooler pump, and will command the SC to shut down whenever there is a failure. It runs crappy w/o the SC. With the SC it's a rocket!

Well, tell that same dealership to treat their SRTs like they do their RAMS and Darts; they'll sell them. Most dealerships treat potential SRT8 customers like they're unworthy and that the cars are above haggling prices. Those dealerships won't sell a car. The ones that do "deal", will. Just ask the salesmen at Bob Fredricks...

.....I'm lovin me some Bob Frederick's Dodge!

Is it just me or does it seem like all the WAITING and SPECULATION just never ever ends............Oh wait, I think I'm hearing the theme music from the "Twilight Zone"(Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo, etc.) On the other hand I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas day to come.

Very cool RS. I meant 5 years I've had my car and you still the man. I knew you'd been here already.

Hey, Let's throw a party for RS!! Then we can meet him and pat him on the back until his shoulders bleed. Really though, he's the main reason I'm here(Besides the Challenger). Keep up the good work. Oh yeah, one more thing, all you guys are pretty cool. The info I get here is awesome. Now I'm going to cry a little.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The interior is too wavy for me and doesn't connect to the style of the car. If you look at the redesigned Mustang the interior is completely updated but screams Mustang. The Challenger looks like it could have come out of a luxury sedan.
I guess you missed seeing the plethora of stying cues cues that "screams '71 Challenger". These have been pointed out in several previous posts.

Who is this guy?
Dude why are you posting this nonsense? You have no idea what you're talking about. Stop it. What are you? 12?
Read the f***ing thread like the rest of us.
BTW, the mustang will suite you better. Perfect match.

I apologize if this "fuster Cluck" has blown over; not my intention to reopen an old sore, but am I the only one who skips over Rupauls' posts without even reading them. Just sayin.
