The 392 is already a beast and with a modest power bump from 470 >>> 485 plus having an 8 speed auto behind it, what do you think 1/4 times would be? I know stock, the 392 with the old 5 speed would hit 12.4s pretty reguarly with a good launch. I'm thinking 12.2 or possibly 12.1 with this new killer 8 speed? What do you all think? We're talking stock everything including tires. But with that said...

I plan on throwing 315 NT05s on the rears of my new scat pack... what do you think times would be for that? 12.1? 12.0?

Thoughts :)

low 12s in stock trim if you can launch on street rubber. 11.8s with reduced tq mgmnt and DRs once tunes are out for them. I wonder if they can hit 118 MPH??? A5s can hit 117 in good air so it will be interesting to see if more shifts slows them down. 6600 RPM in 3rd with an A5 in the traps is tough to beat (26" DRs).

not seen a 392 stock hitting 117. I think the new 392 with 8 speed in real good weather CAN hit 11.999. Hope you are the first to get it.

My A5 392 stock hit 12.2's and I am not the only 12.2 challenger.

new A8 392 should beat that in good weather.

I've hit 117.4 and a few other 117s but that is with a tune and catless in cool air.

On the 28 inch slicks I can trap 129.8 at 6300 in 3rd with the A5
I agree it will be interesting what the 8 speed will do.
During the hellcat testing, I beat on the srt with the 8 speed and it felt really good going through the gears. I think will help with et. Really stays in the power band all the way. MPH im not sure, rain screwed me.

I had a chance to test drive a 15 R/T 5.7 this Saturday and was very impressed by how smooth the 8 speed was. Almost felt too smooth for me, no joke like CVT smooth because I could barely feel the shifts. I know the car was brand new and not broken in, but I felt a lot of delay at WOT when I punched it off the line, once it was in the power band it accelerated real nice. It was a very smooth car compared to my SRT8 392 M6; but lacked several cubic inches for my taste, I can’t wait to test a 392/8 speed.

Thats pretty good MPH if it can get there...
My vette running 11.50 @ 60% WOT in say 1200 DA traps 117-119 MPH & of course is 1000lbs lighter...

That MPH for a 4500lb car is crazy!

Here is a couple of 117s from last December in San Antonio during test & tune. This was with a B&G ECU and some tweaks (fuel, throttle and fuel) that I was testing, catless and CAI. This was when I realized that I couldn't run the 275/40/17 M&H (26" tall) anymore and needed the 275/50/17s (28" tall).
Obviously blew the tires off and peddled on the 13.16 run but still got 117.4 MPH but made good steam between the 1/8th and the 1/4. Weird but my MPHs are higher when I slip a little off the line, ET is worse but MPH is higher.

MPH will always be greater when there is wheel spin.

Motor Trend just did a Scat Pack review of a 392 A8, they ran 0-60 in 4.2 sec and 12.6 @ 112 mph in the 2015. Not bad on the 245/45/20 Goodyear.

2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack First Test - Motor Trend
That's on an un-prepped surface. Highway surface more or less. They tested a 2011 392 in the same spot and they said it was 4 tenths slower than the 8 speed 392. Which in reality, the scat pack should be running 12.2s or close to 12 flat.

Wonder what gear the 8 speed will finish the traps in. 5th? That would be two more shifts than the A5. It will be interesting to see some ETs on DRs. Should be a nice linear pull instead of the A5s rampy pull (surge spikes before hitting 2nd and 3rd). It will be nice when you can tune them for 6600 RPM. Maybe be able to reduce one shift.

Next Wednesday I'll be able to tell ya as I'm taking mine down to the track. It doesn't have DRs in the back but it has 295 Michelin Super Sports which are just as good and super sticky as it is. I'm hoping for 11.99 out of it. We'll see what it does. As fast as this thing shifts, even though it has 2 more shifts than the 5spd, it's still way faster and won't slow it down by much.

Looking forward to your results ! Yours is the 8spd auto right? And out of curiosity have you done any 0-60 times with the built in timer yet?

I did a few last night and consistently got 4.8s. I think their is a lot more in it though. I'm still learning how to hook this car up and launch it, as well as when the best time to shift is...and how hard to shift it so I don't break it loose to bad at the shift.

Much to learn, its definitely a different beast from my old 6spd R/T. Once I fine tuned the "method" with that car I could consistently hit 5.1-5.2s 0-60 times...one 4.8s time but it may have been due to wheel slip since the old sensors were on the rear wheels.

Yeah 8 spd auto here. I haven't done any 0-60s yet but I will next tuesday a day before the track out on the higway a few times so I can get used to launching it right.

Please let us know how it goes. I hope we get some good air here in Texas soon. Still in the 90s and humid as heck.
Don't under estimate good DRs, especially on smaller lighter wheels. A sub 1.8 60' should really lay down some good ETs. You may still have to roll out easy depending on the track prep with the Michelins. Still a pretty hard compound. Would be awsome if you could hammer it out of the hole though.
Be safe and have fun.

It's only going to be about 70 or a little cooler, maybe mid to lower 60s by the time I race, I'll be sure to do a short burnout to get em heated up decently. Also going to let out the PSI down to about 28 or so. Not going to use launch control.

My first method is to just turn on sport mode, foot brake it and rev to maybe 1k RPM then roll into it moderately hard then floor it.
