Just picked up my 2015 SRT (A8) yesterday. Absolutely in love! No comparison to my 09 SRT! One thing I haven't gotten used to yet and maybe I just need to "calibrate" myself, but if you drop a dove feather on the gas pedal in this thing, it wants to climb a tree!

I'd really prefer that the pedal not be so sensitive, particularly at the top of it's travel like that. It's almost like walking on egg shells to take off smoothly from a light without that initial "jerk". Everything is in "street" mode and admittedly, having just gotten it, I haven't been through all the options. Is there any option that can make the go pedal a little less sensitive? This seems to be the opposite request of what everyone else wants and I haven't seen any other "complaints". Maybe I'm just getting old but it seems a bit much to literally just "touch" the gas pedal and it bounces your head off the head rest.

To put it in perspective, I was running the 93 CAI tune on my 09 with 10% throttle boost and that felt nice: easy to gauge a takeoff. This feels like probably 30% in comparison.

I have the Scat Pack with auto so I can tell you that I drive in sport mode all the time and the throttle is pretty sensitive to take off from a dead stop. I know in default mode it is a little better but there isn't any other settings that will adjust the throttle. As long as you have it on the most 'comfort' of settings then that's all you can really do. Your foot will re-learn it the more you drive it though.

If the SRT throttle is touchy, I can't wait to see what it will be like in the Hellcat.:surprise:

Yeah, really! I've tried every mode except the one labeled "Eco" with a little green leaf on it. Just didn't seem right to press a button like that on a 392. :D On the plus side, my foot is getting more comfy with the dead stop whiplash effect. I'm getting better at taking off from a stop without jerking the passenger's necks. Funny, on the 09 SRT, I felt like that with the brakes: just lightly touch the brakes and it wanted to take a nose dive. The 2015 is the opposite: the brakes aren't as sensitive as the 09 (which is a good thing) but the throttle is much more sensitive. Just getting used to it I guess. I've only driven it about 80 miles so far.

Just went to lunch and had a chance to open it up once (needed to pass someone going 52 in a 60). Manual says a couple short WOT bursts are actually a good thing so I didn't feel bad doing it. I mashed it to the floor and by the time I got past the slow-poke's bumper I was doing 85. Funny thing is, it changed gears TWICE in that short period. Not used to those 8 gears yet either. ;)

OK, update. After driving it for a couple days, I've pretty much gotten used to the throttle. I still have a "surprise neck snap" every once in a while but I can generally launch from a light or stop sign relatively smoothly now.

I still think they must have programmed this thing to be non-linear with the throttle, i.e. with "throttle boost'. It feels like pressing the pedal down 1% makes you fall closer to 5% throttle, and so on, leveling out at the top end. If it was linear and the power delivery was proportional to what you feel in the first 5% of pedal travel, this thing would have Hellcat power by the time you hit WOT. ;)

Interesting - most folks with the 392 to to this point who get a tuner end up increasing throttle boost by 5-10%. I wonder if for 2015 the sensitivity is bumped up a bit.

That's a good possibility. Either that or maybe I should do the throttle calibration routine to see if it does anything. You'd have to be insane to want throttle boost beyond what's already in that 2015. Just putting your foot on the pedal to the point that you're not even sure if you touched it enough to move the pedal... results in it lunging forward. Drove it again today and even though I've gotten used to it a bit, it's still hard to control. It's eliminated completely if you put it in "Eco" mode. But I'm not sure I want to run it in that mode not knowing exactly what it is doing. I might lose to a Prius or something. ;)

I can tell you the throttle in this scat pack is more sensitive and wants to "jump the gun" more so than my 2009 R/T 5.7 did. It could just be the more power aspect to. I wonder what the 2011 392 throttles felt like compared to the new 2015 scat packs or SRTs...

Try a #2 Fuse Pull to reset the adaptives? Google it.

I can tell you the stock 392 throttle on the 2011-2014 SRTs is pretty numb the first bit of travel.

Do you need an excuse to drive, or something? :grin2:
Took it out tonight to dinner and back, about 30 miles round trip. The fuse pull + throttle calibration actually worked! It's still touchy but it definitely tamed it so that it doesn't lurch forward with just a feather touch. All I did was pull fuse 29, wait 2 minutes, put the fuse back, turn the key to on, pressed the throttle all the way to the floor and held it there 3 seconds, let it up, turned the key off, and started it.

I'm still convinced that procedure has no effect on WOT, but it definitely does something to the throttle response/curve!

I test drove both a M6 and A8 Scat Pack and I only felt the touchy throttle on the A8 in Sport Mode. It only happened once when at a stop turning right, felt like I had hardly touched the throttle and it jumped out and threw everyone in their seats. I loved it lol

Yeah, it takes off easier in default mode. Since I'm always running around in sport mode, it definately likes to launch out there if you apply too much throttle.

It's different gearing though - the final ratio of 1st gear for the A8 is numerically higher than for the M6. The A8 will tear through the rpms faster because of it.

I am not talking about the gearing, I know they are different. What I was speaking on was the tip in throttle response. When in Sport Mode it seems like even thinking about touching the gas it wants to launch. When out of Sport Mode its much more tame.

I didnt notice it on the manual.
