I know other threads talk about upgrading the Uconnect from a 5.0 to a 8.4 but I want to know as much as possible before I do it. I have a 2015 SXT with the 5.0/RA2 without Sirius XM but believe I have the antenna on the back of my car. I have attached a photo of it so anyone can confirm my thoughts. What I would like to do is upgrade the 5.0 to the 8.4/RA3 screen which I am finding out is just plug and play. My BIG question I need answered is if it is possible to put the 2017 Challenger's Uconnect 8.4/UAS screen instead. I do not have android devices so this would allow me to use the Apple CarPlay feature. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
At least one member confirmed the 2017 is not compatible with 2015/2016. You have the "puck" style antenna, there has been discussion on whether the "shark fin" antenna is needed for either/both Nav and XM. A Guy
So when you did swap them did you just pop open the dash, remove the 5.0 and plug the 8.4 in? Is it really that simple? I probably won't get a NAV one just because I always use my iphone for directions. I appreciate the quick response.
I have 2015 SXT that came with a 5.0 radio with no XM, no back up camera...I bought a 2017 Panasonic/Unconnect 8.4 RA4 radio that came from a 2017 Charger. I removed a clip end from the car wiring harness and plug it in directly. The radio powered up a with a blue Chrysler logo at first but after turning the car off and on it powered up with a red dodge logo. Now I have satellite radio...lol no car play or navigation but it's a very high quality screen view!! Does anyone know how I can get nav, performance pages and my USB back working, also lost the sport button, no longer displays green flag when I push the sport button.
This is interesting. I have a '16 rt with 5.0 screen, no nav, no sat. I'm interested in either upgrading to 2016 8.4 or what you just did, a 2017 module.
You have any video or more pics of your screens? You get any vehicle info or control? Its funny how it said chrysler first, but a reboot showed dodge. Makes me wonder if the software builtin now has pcm/ecu recognizing capabilities.
And where did you buy that at?? No vin programming needed??
After purchasing my 2016 SXT, I was informed by the dealership that I could not just purchase the 8.4 unit. I have seen the after market units for sale but I am worried about compatibility issues. I am very curious what your final result are, and where you get the radio from.
I everything works on the radio except for Nav & CarPlay...I've been to the dealerships several times and just this past Friday they updated the sales code to show I have the 8.4 in my car but for some reason Uconnect, Uconnect access or Sirius Gaurdian will not register me!!! I need help and I don't know where to start and I didn't need any codes Radio plugged right in and came on...all I had to do was remove the blue or purple plastic and insert it into the port
