Here is an idea that I came up with because I could not find a great place to mount a Motorola 2 way radio. The radio moves with the seat when you change it's positions! The bracket is a large speaker mount bent into a 90 degree angle at a certain point with three bolts going through metal seat plate. Worked quite well. Have driven all weekend with it and not even a slight problem. Holds quite well.

Hope that this helps others who are looking for alternate mounting locations for a single din device. Could possibly squeeze a double din in but might cause some rubbing issues.

I threw in some external pics of the vehicle.

Here is where I mounted my laptop using a RAM MOUNT. You can see where I mounted the AIMS EMS/Law Enforcement grade Power Inverter.

Here is where I mounted the L3 Communications Military/Law Enforcement grade Dash Cam. You can see where I mounted the DVR under the passenger seat.

This rear camera is typically used for a cage/backseat cam for prisoner transport to the jail but that will never happen in a Challenger. I rear face mounted mine to the headliner for a rear view. It has a slight tilt. I am going to work on that but it doesn't affect the view ability at all. While driving I can switch to the rear by hitting a button on the view screen below the laptop just under and in front of the RAM MOUNT.

What model Ram Mount? I have been looking at those, I only need it for track days to data log. Can you remover the vertical post and leave the bracket mounted to the seat rails? Does the front seat still adjust once the tap top is removed?

Thanks.

Hey Frank! Thanks for replying. The one that I use in the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T is: RAM Mount Universal No-Drill Laptop Mount - RAM-VB-196-SW1

You can move the seat backwards but cannot move it forward. It is not permanent either. I can break it down in two to three minutes so that a passenger can sit in it. The post is still there as is the arm but you can fold and turn those inward and swing towards the console and glove box and no problems with room nor does it hurt your leg. Not uncomfortable at all. I will have to take some more pictures of that broken down so that you and others can see. You have to have an inverse star set to even put the universal mount in. Pretty cheap set under $40.00 that I have seen out there.

So yes, you can remove it and still sit. I will take pictures of it here shortly for you. :)

yeah the one I kept running across the brackets stayed in the seat rails and the whole vertical bar that holds the "shelf" that mounts the laptop comes off. It was pretty slick but it was "universal" and I learned the hard way universal means works on everything except MOPAR.

I checked and the seat does move forward just a little bit but the seat is all the way back so it should accommodate tall and short people. Short people just can't move closer. You could drop to a half post if you loosened up the post all the way and pulled out the compression ends as well. Might take a few extra minutes. Hope that helps. This works quite well. I had same setup in my 2007 Honda Element SC. It had a custom mount just for that vehicle. You could actually sit someone in the passenger seat with that one. Aside from the seat bracket that was the only difference.

HA! Now THAT is super FUNNY! I hadn't thought of that movie or race in years! Would be fun. I wonder which crazy character I could be? Maybe I could be Burt Reynolds if I grew a 70's porn stache but I would need a chubby crazy funny friend that likes to wear wrestling masks and goes by the name "Captain Chaos"! With all the tech in the car I would likely have to be the uber cool Japanese guys in the Mitsubishi. Good times! Miss those movies. Will have to find both of them and watch them all over again. Thanks for the stroll down amnesia lane! lol. :)
