Hello lovely people! I have a 2013 392 Challenger 6.4L 6 Speed.
The old tank cap fits weird and doesn't look like it was snug. The cap said 1.3 (±17psi).
The parts guy looked up my vin Number and it showed that the 21psi cap fits as well.

Question is, is it ok to use a 21psi cap instead of 17psi on SRT?

TIA

21 psi would be the right cap. Especially if he looked it up by your VIN. I just checked mine, it's also 21 psi. Sounds to me like someone put the wrong cap on your car at some point.

My 2015 RT+ M6 had a metal cap (I believe it was a 18psi cap) on it original from the factory.

I had an issue where the tank would beep like the road runner when cooling down. When I looked up for a cap replacement it showed a 17 psi (plastic cap) which is the new cap that supersedes the old one. With the new cap no more beeping.

Appears to be the same one for a 2013 SRT. You need to see if there are any new part number that replace the old part.

The 5.7L and 6.4L use a different cap and different pressure rating. The 21 psi cap is right for the 392. For a 2013 the part number 05183710AA.
Well then the Steve White Parts catalog has the wrong listing for a 2013 SRT8 Challenger because it shows it being the same for all hemis.

Lol yeah! Conflicting information on the parts catalog websites is what caused this dilemma for me in the first place. I have replaced my 17psi cap with a 21psi cap now and running fine for a few days. It still over heats on stop and go traffic. Will be replacing the thermostat to a 180F soon.
