Looking on the dodge site I was surprised to see the 2010 SRT rear axle ratio was listed at 3.02 compared to the 2011 SRT 3.92 ratio. I see people going on about the RT 3.75 ratio vs the 3.92 ratio...

I'm considering both a 2010 or 2011 SRT with manual transmission. What am I going to notice between the 3.02 vs the 3.92 ratios? Why did they up it so much? Any longevity issues?

Yup, sorry. Just noticed it was listed as auto trans spec..you're right, the manual is 3.92...I'm a dope...getting dizzy comparing models...too many good choices, I can't cope.

3.06 vs 3.92

There is a big difference between the 3.06 vs 3.92. My 2010 AUTO Classic RT came with 3.06 (215mm axles) it just didn't have the torque and launch I wanted. 5th gear seemed to high. Changed it out for a Getrag 3.92 (226mm axles) and a lot more torque even in 5th gear. Difference is night and day. Gas mileage isn't great but I didn't buy the car to save MPG. Drive both models and gears before you buy one. Good luck

That's correct. The auto does need as low a ratio because of the torque multiplication of the auto trans.
Can you explain torque multiplication?

I also agree with the other post, my 09 SRT8 with 3.06 was a dog out of the hole. I had it changed to the 3.91 and it made a unbelievable difference. My RPM's is 3050 @ 80 mph & 2750 @ 70 mph now, which is still not to bad. Most of my driving is around town. If I do want to make a 3 or 4 K trip I can just change the center section back to the 3.06 which takes about 4 hr's.
