I just recieved my new issue of Road and Track, head line on the cover pits 392 Challanger against Shelby gt 350. How is it they would compare cars with a $ 38000 PRICE difference? They both have hood strips? Why do the car mags always make such stupid comparisons when mopar is involved? They did say the 392 was well worth its cost. Just a small rant!!

There was a thread about this comparison, I guess there is also a video you can find on-line. I assume the Stripes were the basis for this pointless comparison. I would love to see a 392 vs. 5.0 though

I just drove a new Boss 302. Price is about 7k less than the IE 392 Challenger I drove. All I can say about the Stang is wow.

I think the Challenger has it beat in looks but thats about it.

It is a good and fair article. Without adjusting for price, the GT350 "won". However, when adjusted for price, the 392 won. The numbers are actually not too far off. I bet with a blower, the 392 would be right there, for still onerous $30k less. The article is very complementary of the 392.

Yeah, I can't imagine spending $80k for a Mustang of any sort. As the article points out, you could basically get a 2010 Viper for that.

Don't know why the Mags. do this they are comparing Apples to Oranges. One is a $45,000 production car the other a $80,000 + custom built Performance car. Hell cut somebody loose with $35,000 and see what the 392 Chally can do, not even around $15,000 will do. Last year they were compairing Camero SSs to Challenger R/Ts.

I get Road and Track and this article makes me wonder why. Besides the GT350 being almost double the price, it is also a car that is not produced as delivered by Ford and has to go to the Shelby factory for extensive mods, which is fine, but IMO at Mustang GT or GT500 comparison would have been more interesting, mainly because of the price point.
