Hey there,

Does anybody have an idea of how the series of vacuum hoses and such work in the older cars to control vent selection, defrost, etc.? I know there's vacuum diaphragms that move various doors and flaps, but not sure where the actual 'air' or 'vacuum' to make them function comes from.. :indifferent:

The engines intake almost always provides the vacuum to run these controls although some 40's,50's and 60's rides also had a vacuum pump built into the fuel pump but that was pretty much eliminated when electric wipers became the norm and the load on the system was reduced

Theres usually a line coming of the intake to a canister somewhere on the firewall and from there to your controls under the dash.

It took a second but I found the location on the firewall by the blower motor, the port had been snapped off back when. Totally excited to get er hitched up again and have some possible vent control, thanks man!:)
