Hello All,

So in my infinite wisdom and knowledge that I know little about cars in the grand scheme, I was wondering why no cars have a air intake at the grill opening. It would seem as though if you had a air filter in the grill that went straight into the throttle body the faster you went, the more air would be forced through the filter due to the increase in speed and air flow.

I could not find any pictures so either this is a stupid idea, or I did not look hard enough.
I could see moving stuff around to get the coldest air and to have it go straight in. From what I know of induction it seems like it would be a great idea, unless the wind and pressure from driving would throw off your a to f ratio too much making the car unable to adapt.

That's called a ram-air induction system. Google it.

Take a look at a 1964 thunderbolt. Ford, from the factory, removed the high beams and used the headlight openings for a forced air induction system. Superb idea for a factory super stock car, on the interstate, in the rain, following a semi, not so much.
