2012 RT 22.000 Miles

I do not care for the auto air feature so I usually manual adjust the air.

But i noticed the cold setting is cold but not ice cold and the heater feels like i can only imagine hell would feel like. HOT.

But the settings in between seem useless, i turn it to 72 " middle position and sometimes its cool air and sometimes its warm. It seems like anything past 62 is warm.

Is this normal?

My 2012 SRT I find the settings questionable in the accuracy. However, the car does achieve a comfortable interior setting. Yes, hot is hot but that is not a complaint given my location. The cold I really can't comment on to much other then to say my A/C works and I would say the air is never really super cool (this was true on all my challengers) and I would not be surprised if a hot Texas day is a challenge for the system.

Like the OP says, the a/c in my 2012 RT is merely adequate, never ice cold. Had the dealership look at it after six months ownership and they said it was normal. Any temperature setting to the right of middle is scorching hot. I posted about this a long time ago, but most responders seemed to think their a/c was ice cold. For the first year or so I never used the auto temperature, but lately I have used auto temperature and fan and it has been OK.

Has anyone else noticed that if you remote-start the car, the a/c on by default. However, once you are inside and have pressed the start button, the a/c stays on even if you forcibly disable it?

Yes, there is a lengthy thread on here about it somewhere (looks left, right, can't find it!). I have the same issue. Why in the hell doesn't the AC turn off when you turn it off? Even if you turn OFF the car, fire it back up, the AC stays on. Someone said you need to let it sit for 10 minutes before it will operate normally. Try this: if you know you are going to use auto start the next time you are going to start it, make sure all the climate controls are turned to off when you get out of the car. This should keep the AC from turning on the next time you hit the auto start. Your results may vary.

My air blows colder than any car ive owned at the coldest setting and the heater gets real hot as well. The settings in between seem barely noticeable in difference.

My A/C always stays on when I turn the car off and back on but recirculate always turns off and stays off.

I took my SRT into the dealer in August to have the AC checked. I was tired of having to run the AC on full blast all the time when the outside temps got over 80. My commute is an hour long and the car is just tolerable inside with the AC full on and in the recirculate mode. My other cars (300&durango) cool down and then the blower on low will maintain.
The tech showed me the system was blowing at 53* and said his Ram blows colder. He injected dye to look for leaks, but none found.
What I noticed later is that there is a tremendous amount of heat coming from under the dash right onto my legs!
So, is this normal?

I always had similar problems with my 2009 SRT. The AC was just barely adequate and took a long time to cool things down when it sat in the sun. It helped quite a bit to adjust the blower to the mix position (half lower and half upper vents) although it didn't "feel" as good at first. On my 2015, it's ice cold and cools down I'd say about 5x faster.

No it's not normal, mine works as it should, temp knob responds very well to input and is easy to get the right temp, I also don't like Auto position and don't use it, my AC blows 42 deg. air from the vents on a 92 deg. day using the same thermometer, so I would call that pretty good. It heats very well too but I do have the problem where if it comes ON during remote start it will stay ON and unless it's below 40 deg. or so the AC does come ON not the heat.

There's a metal line under the dash just above your legs that's hot as a firecracker.
Some have insulated it,havn't yet but this made me think of it,may do tomorrow.
My AC heat works fine, being black it takes longer to cool off,but don't usually use auto temp.
