Questions:

1, Is it necessary to add (distilled) water to the battery? Does it really make a difference?

2. Looking at my OEM battery, can it pop open like the aftermarket batteries? It does not seem to have the cap you can pop off with a flat head screw driver.

the covers do pop off - I've done this before on the '09.

Still haven't checked the '16 yet - which I should do, since I'm near the two year anniversary!

Use distilled water when adding to the battery...

Gee...I thought all batteries were maintenance-free and not serviceable these days. I'll have to take a closer look at my batteries.

those covers are on tight!

I worked on the end with my trim removal sticks - it would take a good deal of persuasion - the cover is one piece from end to end.

Probably with the battery out, once could get to the ends and pry top cover open. Its clipped in, not as easy as the earlier style.

I noticed the ground cable is substantially larger gauge and there's also a small two-wire connector off the main ground connector - compared to my '09.
