I got an aftermarket sunroof put in my 2010 SE for about $1000. I had to take it back because they screwed the roof down too tight and it caused stress marks in the roof outside and the sunroof itself actually sank.

I am also not happy with the material used to construct the new headliner which to me is NOT WHAT was promised. Anyone out there add an aftermarket sunroof and either have or have no trouble?

I feel like I have ruined my car. Or rather like my sunroof installer did. INstaller claims the problem is with something another changing with the pressure points specs BLAH BLAH BLAH..

I am wondering if I should jsut buy a new roof panel and have a new headliner put in because I am just not happy. They say they are going to fix it but they also said in the beginning it would look factory, which it doesnt.

Considering suing them

Never say never, but generally, an aftermarket sunroof is a deal breaker for me as far as buying a used car is concerned. Most of the ones I've seen have been shoddily installed. However, at this point, you'll probably take less of a hit on the value of your car by keeping it than it'd cost to get the roof and headliner replaced.

I passed on an otherwise pristine E-body Challenger in the '80s because of its pop up sunroof.

Honestly, I think you'd be better off cutting the rest of the roof off altogether and turning it into a convertible rather than trying to repair the roof.
thats really not practical..

All I would need is a factory headliner a factory roof panel and the labor to put it in and paint it the right color. And you can bet my installer would pay for every dime and maybe then some. If it took my last breath..

They advertise certified bonded insured etc.
And it really would not look bad at all as far as the sunroof itself, and operates great. It is mostly two things, they screwed it in too tight and it made the cross beam scar the roof panel from the underneath AND they skimped on the headliner material like I would not notice.

However, I am giving them the opportunity to correct their mistake.

sunroof

I was going to have an sunroof installed in my challenger. I posted on here a long time ago and most replied just get one with it factory installed so i traded my r/t for an str8 with sunroof. they usually dont look factory installed with aftermarket sunroofs. But youre doing the right thing by giving them a chance to correct the issues with the roof. Just make sure youre satisfied before you take the car back goodluck.
