started hearing a squeak/chirp as I drive... its from the front left.. its nearly constant and only ceases when I turn vehicle towards the right...the car doesn't always chirp but happens about half the time I'm driving...very annoying.

sounds softly like this:

louder version:

Is this issue tied into my belts in any way?

Second what Fox2108 said. My 996 Turbo emitted a faint chirp -- at idle no less -- and it proved to be from a bad idler roller bearing in one of the 2 or 3 idler rollers of the accessory drive serpentine belt. I just had the tech replace all idler rollers and the tensioner roller.

It sounds like an idler pulley bearing, but that wouldn't make sense for the chirping to go away when you turn to the right. Check wheel bearings? I have had some really abnormal sounds from wheel bearings before.

if you're still under warranty, have the dealer look at it.

Sounds like a wheel issue to me. Something lodged in you brake caliper or has to do with the pad area maybe? I would jack that wheel up and spin it to see if the noise is there when off the ground.

jacked it no sound from wheel...again its an on/off issue

finally allotted a 3 hour window to let the dealership see it...it was raining and the sound did not occur at dealership, the staff refused to do a courtesy check just in case they could find any abnormality.... overall no result found..overall very annoying, detracts from the fun of the drive...will be going to another shop

We understand how this could be frustrating, the5timechamp. We would be more than happy to document this further for you so that we have it on file. However, in order for a dealer to determine what components may be causing this they will need to duplicate. Send us a PM with additional details if you would like us to document this for you.

appreciate the concern, had a talk with the service person at the dealership. They called back based on the service survey review i submitted. Beyond the videos and the descriptions of the sound there arent too many details to add. If anything I will wind up with yet another appointment (or 3 to try and recreate the circumstance).

What year is your Challenger? If it's a 2015 SRT or Scat Pack, or 2016 RT (what year did the RT get active exhaust...?) and above engine and has the active exhaust... Have your service department check the butterfly valve. Both my 2015 Scat Pack and my 2015 Hellcat had the active exhaust butterfly valve go out. It makes a squeaky sound that you can hear at low speed, especially in a closed area like a parking garage.

Please do send us a private message if you do end up bringing it back in. We apologize that we are unable to offer more assistance at this time.

I never got a clear diagnosis..
though i stopped hearing it sometime after i had a tire rotation done.. so perhaps something on the mounting was off

I've changed belt and idler pulley, was told it may be tensioner, then the brake wear sensor/indicators, so I'm changing pads and rotors next. I can't rotate my tires due to the sizes. So I'm clueless and it's annoying at. Was also told could be compressor but it runs fine, and water pump bearings, but have had no cooling issues. Sound seems to stop momentarily when I tap the brakes or turn right, and I never hear it during the rain or day after it rains.

This sounds like my water pump just before it took a shit...the front bearings in it went out...
Watch for water leakage under the front of the engine in the morning before starting it...
