So I took my 2015 A8 SP to the dealer because what I thought was the normal Hemi tick had gotten suddenly really loud. Dealer said it was either a bent valve or a spring. They said they fixed it....
I took it back and said its still louder then normal but now less loud then it had suddenly become. I got the that's just the Hemi tick nothing to worry about line. I have a good relationship with the dealer and its people so they replaced the injectors just because (Under Warranty)

I just got it back. It's still way louder then I remember it being and my warranty expired while the car was in the shop...

The tick i'm hearing gets loudest between 2k-3k rpms. (Maybe louder at higher rpms but my exhaust drowns it out) I hear it coming from the passenger side of the car, its considerably quieter when on the driver side.
I almost think its loudest in low gears in the same rpm range. I can only just hear it in 8th gear at 2k rpm.

Please someone way smarter then me tell me whats going on! It would be very appreciated!

You can hear it in the video below (Just ignore the resonator delete...) :D

Anyone?

The tick has gotten louder and its really annoying now.

The new injectors I got turned out to be faulty and now I have a misfire. It could be the faulty injector? Back to the dealer Monday.

It helps to know what may be going on by pinpointing the source of the noise as best as one can. No recent Dodge experience regarding diagnosing engine noises but with other cars this involves getting the car in the air and carefully listening from under the car -- and using a mechanic's stethoscope -- to locate the area of the engine from where the noise comes from. One might have to listen to the engine with the car on the ground and the hood open and any engine sound deadening covers removed.

By knowing where the noise is coming from a tech should be able to make a reasonably accurate diagnosis as to what is going on and at least know whether to drop the pan or remove a valve cover.

Since you had the car worked on I'd take the car back with the noise. If you are told they all do that ask this be demonstrated by having another car's engine started and run.

Mine did similar (2011 SRT8 A5) two weeks ago. ended up not being valve or spring. But it was a MDS lifter that failed and wiped out a cam lobe.

that was a crappy fix.

Thanks for the comments! The mechanics kept saying they didn't hear anything abnormal and I was starting to think I was crazy.

Got the new new injectors on yesterday and of course I still hear the noise. However this time I had a different mechanic listen to the tick and he said he did hear it and that he agrees its not just noisy injectors. He put it back on the rack and tried to find it using a stethoscope. Unfortunately he wasn't able to find it.

At this point i'm not sure what to do. Ill be taking it back and ask them to continue trying to find it I guess.

Thanks again for the replies!

Is the noise coming from up top? Under a valve cover? Or coming from down below? The oil pan? Or from somewhere inside the block? Can you or the tech say the noise is coming from one cylinder bank or the other cylinder bank?

I'm thinking if you can have some confidence the noise is coming from up top and from one bank or the other to remove the valve cover of the suspected noisy bank and all plugs removed turn the engine over by hand and with the proper equipment confirm all intake valves have the same amount of movement and ditto the exhaust valves.

This might eliminate a bum lifter or perhaps a cam lobe that has gone flat.

The mechanic who finally heard the noise agreed with me that it sounded like it was coming from below. Its definitely loudest at the passenger front wheel well.
Hopefully I can speak with the same tech tomorrow and see if he was able to at least narrow down where its coming from.

The mechanic found a "Nut" missing on the manifold and that it was leaking. He replaced the nut and said he didn't hear the noise anymore. I picked up the car and drove for about 30 seconds, the noise is still there.

I took a short road trip (4 hours) and everything was fine. The next day I drove for about 20 minutes (10 of which were up a steep mountain). No warning lights or any indication something was wrong but when I parked and got out, I had buckets of radiator fluid gushing out. Popped the hood to try and see where it was coming from. It wasn't coming from the reservoir. Is their a release valve or something elsewhere?

5-10 minutes after parking I turned the car on to look at the coolant temp and it was 225. I let it cool down, got some coolant and topped it off. Drove the 4 hours home watching the coolant temp which stayed steady around 200. Made it home just fine.

WTF is wrong with my car!???

Side Note: When going down the steep hill, not giving any gas, the RPM's went up (obviously) and so did the noise. Doesn't this rule out noisy injectors as I wasn't giving it any gas?

After speaking with 2 chrysler techs and two engine builders that build gen 3 hemis on a regular basis, they app spoke like MDS lifter failure is just an eventual inevitability, whether at 11K or 200K.

I wish I had know that when I was purchasing...but what ya gonna do? I will say that with the new non MDS stuff in my 11 SRT, it is quiet as a churchmouse, and I eliminated all the sound deadening under intake and injector covers.
