2016 Hellcat NO sunroof.

We had some fairly heavy rain, for the first time in MONTHS, the other day and now the car stinks like mold/mildew/etc.

This is the second time this has happened.

The first time the car actually had an inch or so of water in the well under the stereo and battery are. Never able to find out where the water came from since the interior and carpet were dry.

So back to the dealer it goes for another evaluation and hopefully fixed this time as the wet season is nearly upon us here in FL.

Anyone with suggestions or similar issues/solutions that I might be able to give to the tech?

You may want to get into the trunk with a flashlight and have someone run water around the trunk channels with a hose (starting at the top). This is what dealers do to pinpoint trunk leaks. In the meantime, go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy a container of Damp Rid (about $2.25) to eliminate the moisture and smell.

Unfortunately once that smell is in the carpet and jute its in there for good, but no use replacing it until your leak is fixed.

Its either coming from around your rear window or trunk lid gasket. Do what 340 Cuda said! You should find the leak pretty quick.

It's still under warranty take it back and have them find it. I wouldn't touch it. If so they might try to void the warranty work on this.

Follow up after the service appt.

The dealer service dept eval'ed and replaced the passenger side tail light assembly.

The next few days will be a good test.

Confident in the tech who worked on it but fingers crossed just the same.

Another day of moderate rain for a few hrs yesterday and when I went outside this bright sunny morning, opened my trunk and found wet carpet on the driver side near tail light and water down in the well where the stereo is.

Another appt made.

Dodge Cares, who would the tech contact and how?

The dealership can contact our STAR technicians who can assist remotely. If you'd like to open a case through us/Customer Care (different than a STAR case), please let me know!

The Hellcat is still at the shop. Driving a loaner Rubicon Unlimited Jeep. I drove Jeeps for 20+ years before getting into Challengers so it doesn't bother me but my wife thinks it is like driving the Flinstones car since it has a V6 vs the supercharged 6.2!

The tech really had to work to find the leak. It is coming from UNDER the trunk. Apparently a seam of body panels that was not sealed fully from the factory is allowing water to spray up into the well and trunk.

Should have the Hellcat back early next week.

Will keep everyone posted.

Update.

Got the Hellcat back after 1 week. They sealed the seams in the area under the trunk.

Had LOTS of heavy rain off and on for a week or so and no water noticed.

Hoping the seam sealer remains intact and the trunk stays dry.

Right now all is good.
