Just got a Unconnect update request in my 2016 challenger RT 8.4 radio. 9-19-19 today. Anybody else get this request and what does it do? These things scare me. Was just about to get a Tazer and I wonder if it will still work with this update. Thanks

I have had some USB sticks that the head unit just does not like. Lately I have been using a Kingston 32gb (always format it just before saving new uconnect files) and it works with no issues.
Thanks.

Fortunately it worked the second time around. Update successful.

I was concerned at first when the screen went completely white and it said some type of cryptic error message, but when I took the USB out and put it back in again it completed successfully with the correct updated version number.

I’m assuming now that I no longer need the over the air update?

I received notification that an update was coming but that was weeks ago. I went to the Uconnect site and it spit back that 18.45.X is available for download. Looks like another manual update process for me. OTA hasn't been very good to me.

UPDATE: Version 17.43.01 upgraded to 18.45.01 via USB. No issues to report (yet).

PLEASE UPDATE YOUR VEHICLE’S UCONNECT SYSTEM SOFTWARE TODAY

Went to the driveuconnect site and entered my VIN and found this...........

I plan on doing the update sometime this weekend.

UPDATE: Just got finished updating and everything still seems to be operating normally, thanks all!

Just updated the RA4 in my RAM, worked fine.

If tomorrow is "the" rollover date, Im not sure what to expect if you dont install the update before then....hopefully just wonky GPS, but Im not sure if it would affect anything else on the radio. My suggestion would be to update before then, just to be sure.

I just noticed after the update that my car says it’s 54 degrees outside when it’s really 80. The car has been outside most of the day but the ignition has only been on and running for about 45 minutes but that should be more than enough time for it to update.

Anyone else have an issue with the outside temperature reading after the update?

Was the car sitting still the whole time the engine was running?

I've only experienced this issue once. I and my car were in a 4th of July parade 2 years ago. I ride to the staging area, and the temperature read 73*. This parade was going at 1 MPH. It took 2 hours to do the 2 miles. I knew it was sweltering by parades end, but my car still said 73*. It was a lot hotter by the end of the parade, so what gives? Well, in driving back home, my car thermometer found itself, and all of a sudden it was 89*. So... I think the car has to be moving at speed to get an accurate reading of the temperature. That's my best guess.

I think they want the vehicle running so people dont end up with dead batteries in the middle of an update (which would probably hose the radio)

I thought at one point the instructions (for previous updates) mentioned putting the truck on a charger OR having it running, but now they just say have it running.

Just to be thorough I took their suggestion of running it. Hopefully this will be the last ever update I do on my RA4, so I wont worry too much. If there is a next time I will consider the battery charger route instead.

I should have come to this forum and found this thread for I was confused by the over-the-air update schedule request on my 2015 SRT 392. I too kept scheduling it but nothing would happen and until it updates nothing would work on the Uconnect--one week of long boring drives home with no tunes. So I decided to see if there was a software update I could download to a USB and install it manually; there was but I could not tell if the over-the-air update had anything to do with what I could updated via the USB, so I took a chance to see if the USB update would respove what the over-the-air push was going to fix/update.

I probably could have just left the vehicle in run mode, but the instructions said I needed to have the engine running, so I did. I took advantage of the spinning alternator and charged my phone via one of the 12V outlets and use the other 12V to plug in the Challenger's inflator and added some PSI to my tires, given it was starting to get cold and I new they were going to get low very soon. It was a good way to keep myself occupied while monitoring the update without just sitting there watching the screen slowly progress through the installs.

As far as we know, it only corrected the GPS/date issue, and updated current settings. No new features

I have a feeling that the important thing is to have the ignition set to run. They probably ask to have the engine running in case the battery charge is low or near end of life. Thirty minutes is a good deal of time running off the battery. If the battery was attached to a battery maintainer/charger it might serve the same purpose.

Though as a kid I remember my dad saying that it was bad for the ignition to be on for a long period of time without the engine running, but that was back in the 60’s.

Honestly I dont think there IS an issue with the UAx radios. The RAx radios use a particularly old chipset for various functions in the head unit, including assisted GPS. That is the chipset that needs the update.

Since the UAx radios are newer, I think they use a much newer chip that does not have the week rollover number issue (at least not yet).

Is there anyone with a UAx radio that has navigation that is now having navigation issues?

This ^^ was my thinking as well. You may not have a widespread problem needing an update not yet available...you may have an individual issue, but could be a software issue

Still struggling through this. I have a 2017 Challenger TA, so I'm probably not part of the recent Software/GPS update? When I go to GPS Information, I show zero satellites available --- and my location is typically 40-50 miles from actual location.

Dealership was stumped --- they said my Software was showing as up-to-date, and I should call Chrysler/Uconnect.

Called the 800 Number on Veterans Day, got a Case Number. Supposedly was going to get call-back from GPS tech/specialist.

That was 2+ weeks ago, and no call-back. So I called today, and didn't get anywhere. I was told to call the Navteq/HERE 800 Number. Huh? How are they going to resolve a Dodge/Uconnect issue?

Requested another call-back from Chrysler/UConnect, so we'll see. Definitely going in circles here.

Just got an FCA notification of the GPS software update and a "one time use" usb flash drive to install the software. As previously mentioned I'm not getting the OTA updates. Maybe because I never signed-up for the Uconnect trial. I had already installed the update. It doesn't say which software version is on the USB drive.

On your radio, go to the "apps" menu. Then to the "settings" menu. You will then scroll down until you see the "system information" choice. When you choose that, it will tell you what version of software your car is running. You can't get this info from the USB drive.
