My wife wants new wheels for the new Challenger but wants to use the factory tires since they have 300 miles on them (makes economic sense and saves me some money). I don't mind 18" wheels but only if when the stockers wear out I won't have to run skinny 225s again. I took a quick look and found several nice 18" performance tires in 245 and wider but they all had a 40 aspect ratio. That's not enough sidewall on that small diameter wheel. Anyone run a 245, 255 or 265 wide tire on the 18" wheel but with at least a 50 aspect ratio?

My stock wheels are 235/55 and it actually look pretty sweet... Even though I am going to upgrade to 20"

You can run a 265 50-18 that will will fit on the 18" wheel. A couple of members on the forum have done it successfully.

Nitto makes a couple of models in that size NT555 and NT420...the 420 is an SUV tire (allegedly stiffer sidewall on the NT420).

I'm look at going that route when the OEM Michelins need replacing - they look a bit skinny in the 235-55 size the car comes with.

I'll be running 265/50/18 front and 305/45/18 rear tires. Nitto NT555 Front and Nitto NT555R rear. Not on stock wheels however.

Yokohama makes a 255/55-18 and a 235/55-18 in their AVID ENVigor all-season tire. The specs look good but I'll have to do some digging to see how they perform on a heavy sports car like the Challenger.

I checked Nitto's site and they don't list a 265/50-18 in their NT555 tire.

Blu's Challenger does look good! It's too low for mine though since my wife is the primary driver of the car. She'd have the front tore up in no time.

In the big pic that cannonballcobb posted those are M & H Drag Radial tires 275/45/18s on Boss 338 18x9.5 inche wheels. The car rides a little stiff with the Eibach Pro Suspension kit with swaybars.

I can't really tell how the tires ride because of the Eibach kit. Before I had the 20'' chrome clad wheels and the RSA tires. So the ride is about the same as those with Eibach kit. I really wanted more sidewall on the tires because we have potholes and bumps around here on city streets. I get out on the highway and smooth roads it rides and handles great. I do a little Auto-X too, have a couple vids on u-tube of auto-xing search my screen name.

i just got Nitto 420s in 255/55/18 on my R/T. What a difference... the tire fills up the fender wells much better, the ride is better and less noisy. I ran it through some *very* twisty sections of road, ran it very hard, the difference is night and day from the stockers. I can now overrun the brakes easily. Also did some launches and I'm going to have to find a new technique. on a prepped track i'm betting these would hook just fine for a stock R/T. In fact you'd probably start breaking parts.

Wouldn't the 255/50 be a better match than the 255/55?. The 255/50 tire is wider than the 255/55 and closer to the overall diameter to the 235/55...
