Revising and shortening an earlier thread. Is there any benefit to bolting on some BBK or Hooker shorty headers versus long tubes to the 392 Hemi, given that they're better than the factory units? I've heard guys have picked up some torque and even some horsepower from them.

The appeal of the shorties is they're cheaper, they'd keep my car emissions legal and I wouldn't have to weld up new catted midpipes, and they're easier to install.

The 392's already come with a shorty headers from the factory. If you want to see any gains you will want to go with long tube headers. If you go with cats and have it tuned propery you shouldn't have any issues passing emmisions. Also, you don't have to weld catted midpipes as the bolt right up to the headers. If you search the forum on longtube header installs you should find alot of good info.
