I'm still shopping.

What is the best year/model Challenger to start with if you want to mod it?

Pros/Cons?

I am ruling out V6s and autos because the 6M V8 models already show the most promise by not having MDS and having good power to start with.

I'm thinking 2013/14 might be the best years?

The 09-14s have the advantage of not requiring a new pcm to tune, so that right there saves you about $700. 09-14s are also cheaper to buy. So cost wise the 09-14s are a better bang for the buck. But other than that, 09-17 manual challengers are pretty much just as good of bases as one another in terms of straight line speed since the drivetrain hasn't changed much throughout the years. The 11+ tremecs have a revised input shaft that I believe is stronger than the 09-10, and the differential internals were shot peened for extra strength in 11-14. The 15-17 SRTs/scat packs have the 230mm ZF rearend, which is a little stronger than the 226mm getrags found in the 09-14 cars, but the flip side is that the ZF differential isn't serviceable like the getrag differential.
