So I have a 2010 R/T with the 6 speaker Boston sound system, RER head unit. I do not want to go aftermarket for amps, headunit.

I have read many threads about the sound of the kicker amp and speakers, but has anyone had the Boston as stock and just swapped out the speakers with the Kicker stock ones? Is it worth the change?

How about changing out the amp. I think the stock amp is decent but should I change that also, to the kicker?

Would love to know if anyone swapped just the speakers and did it make a big difference?

Thanks:)

I have the Boston in my 300c. I upgraded to the Kicker in my '09 SRT. I'm leaving the Boston in the '11 SRT I ordered. Imho.

I agree, the kicker isn't as good as the Boston, and I don't really like the Boston SGII in my car all that much. Aftermarket speakers are calling me..

I would like a little more bass, but my main problem is it has a kind of a honky midrange, and the back speakers sound terrible. My Charger sounded better with supposedly the same system in it. I'm going to go over to the car stereo place, and see if the same JL speakers I had in my Ram fit. If they do, that's how I'm going. They were very clean, and not nearly as hot as the kickers are. When they are putting the new speakers in, I'll have them stick a hunk of Dynamat around them too. My Ram sounded great, it just lacked bass.

Might have to do that???

I have the SG II with the 7 Boston's. I just added the Mopar dual Kicker sub with built in 400w amp.....sounds great.

Could you keep us updated on how it sounds?

Thanks,

....same here (SGII; 7 speaker). I couldn't imagine more bass (I have to turn it down as it is).
Well, to be honest, the SGII 7 speaker setup doesn't have all that much real bass, it has a lot of midbass. A friend's brother has an amazingly bad sounding set up in his older (2000 or 2001) Ram that has a big sub in a home built console, and it has REAL bass you can feel. That part is about perfect. The high end is so hot it gives me an instant headache. He's got some serious hearing loss and claims everyone who tells him it sounds like crap is "lying and jealous". If I kill most of the high end with the EQ, pull a couple of fuses to kill the tweeters aimed at my head, it almost sounds good. Even with half the speakers dead, it's still sizzling hot. His wife and kids complain about it constantly. He claims they are lying too. :notallthere:

If I could have the basic sound my JL equipped Ram had, with the bass from his truck, it would be totally thrilled.

Thanks,

I really like the addition of the dual kicker this last week. The added 400w amp for the bass bass really helps complete the sound (I listen to mostly Rock/classic rock). I can turn the bass level down to midline and if i turn the stereo up to max setting of 32 and it still sounds great without any distortion. Very happy with this easy addition. I may upgrade the speakers in the future...but that is way down on the list. I will be at Challengerfest so if your there you can listen to the difference.
