I also said that I saw plenty of good comments on their too about the 392. Thats why I said "finally good to hear good comments about our fat pig cars" lol.

but I read alot of hate too. But nothing serious, its all fun n games and good times. muscle car wars have been going on forever. it wouldnt be any fun, if there was no competition.

The 5.0 is a fast car. I've had the opportunity to test drive one and was impressed with how quick it was. What I wasn't impressed by was how boring of a car it is in the looks department. The car seriously lacks appeal. I tried my best to like it but it was just damn boring. The interior was built well but was seriously too small for my taste. I would not buy a car just for performance because a person is not going to be on a track every day. Most of my driving is done in a regular daily commute environment. I would rather have a fast car that is also appealing to the eye and comfortable and the mustang falls short in these departments. No it is not an ugly car but lets be serious, it doesn't even compare to the Challenger. I'm tired of hearing all of the hoopla about how much cheaper it is because to get a car that is comparable to that of the SRT8 you are going to spend over 43k. As far as I'm concerned, the 5.0 doesn't even register on my radar. It's just another Stang. I'm definitely not worried about a Camaro SS or a 5.0.

here is a link, dont see much fear in this thread

2011 challenger srt8 5.0 killer?
not all had fear, I also put some had hate, some had good things to say and all of the above. right off the back when I went into that link the second reply had "yea but it is still a chrylser" sounds like hate to me.
All in all, like I said, it is just funny and interesting to see what other threads are saying. and sorry if I offended you in any way, with a name like "Cobra4me" sounds like you are a ford guy. I already gave the gt500 its props :bigthumb:

When the Camaro ZL1 hits showrooms....we're done!:(

But the Challenger is really a different animal. Having owned Vettes, Camaros & driven Stangs...I can tell you this...ours is a comfortable, menacing, rocket-powered tank! Nothing else in it's class!

I have been on their forums and I read the opposite. Many of them said they would love to have a Challenger parked in their garage (mostly about the 392).
They cannot deny it.
This car is the only American true muscle car on the road today. No paddle shifters or compromised body designs for grannys/racers.
really???? lool.

btw, yeah I too would love to have a 392 in my garage.

Has any 392 on here actually ran against a 2011/2012 GT500? Much more fair race than against a 5.0. :fight:

Who cares if it is faster? It is still one hell of an ugly piece of european engineering... Only reason that car is popular is because of the Transformers movies.

What do you expect from the internet? When you are too emotionally wrapped up in your car, that it blinds you, it is hard to give credit and praise where it is due. Too many dudes live through their cars and they have a lot riding on it's percieved coolness in relation to other outsiders. Grow up, other automakers have cool cars. IMHO, Mustang owners are the worst offenders when it comes to denying that any other automaker produces a cool car. 392 is badass regardless of what Camaro and Mustang owners think.

Don't fret. The Challenger will survive. :)

Mustang GT, Camaro SS, SRT8 392 - all will run within a few tenths (call it 12.9 to 13.2 for the sticks). Whoever gets the holeshot will stay out in front up to supra-legal and dangerous speeds. By most acceleration reports I've read, the 392 will start to walk both cars at highway speeds, but off the line it's anyone's win to grab.

You guys need to remember it will generally take way more asphalt than is safely available for a clear victor to emerge. These cars hit 60 in 4.x seconds, which is way over the speed limit on most stop/go roads with traffic lights. Get caught up in a street race in any of these cars and you just might wad up your $50K Challenger over what - bragging rights? It's just not worth it.

No one is going to prove anything in 1st gear other than how well he can launch the car. Take it to the strip and run these cars balls out in the 1320 up to 110-113 MPH and you'll have a more complete picture than a street race.

Challengers just plain cool

I look at it this way "to each their own"if we all liked the same things in life ..life itself would be pretty boring and that can be said for pretty much anything
Im a gear head so a nice car is just that 'a nice car'
If I was to own a Camaro having had a 69 it would be a 73 RS/Z28 witha GM ZZ crate sml blk and a 700r4 trans
The cool thing about my 2010 R/T Challenger in 20 years I can lift the door of my garage and I wont have to tell the person next to me what it is..its not about how fast the car is that gives it a 'cool factor'
The car can just sit parked in the garage and makes your motor run :thumbsup:thats my 2 cents

Guy’s, I'm not worried about the Camaro ZL1 or the Shelby 500, they’re both supercharged cars. Our argument is: watch us strap a S/C to a 392 and then who's fastest. Besides the SRT8 Challenger's are just nicer cars with a way better interior, and driving experience. Chevs not going to let the ZL1 Camaro out perform, or take the highlight from there age old flagship car the Corvette

MAN *$(% the ZL1!!! :). No really its not comparable, the price tag will be high and they are looking to target the shelby owners. At the end of the day it's still supercharged and so is the shelby so it takes it to another class/level whatever. Throw a supercharger on a 392 (which will THEN price about the same) then compare. Not sure who has looked at the preview specs for the ZL1 on the chevy website but:

Leather seats w/ suede inserts
Brembros
USB
Eagle F1s
Smaller steering wheel
etc....

I mean who is emulating who here? what's that about imitation and flattery?

Not dissing the Camaro, at the end of the day I am excited for the American automotive industry (if gas prices don't spoil it! I say drill here and let ME pay 11cent a gallon and do burn outs all day! lol) and I dig the competition. I chose the the challenger because its more fitting for a grown @$$ man over 6 ft. If we compete with shelbys cool..... but for the love of dodge stop comparing all motor with the likes of the shelbys and zl1s and stick to the GTs and the SSs I'm smacking down with my 3-9-2!!!!!:werd:

Good convo

Hey if i had Bill Gates money (ok maybe not that much), i would have all three of these beasts in my garage. Take the two supercharged models out to beat the piss out of now and then; but the Challenger when i wanted to cruise in style, with the guts under the hood to match!

Should be a damn good race between us & the 302 & GT500. InsideLine just did a 'stang comparison. Their previous test put the 392 @ 12.6 in the 1/4.

Somebody really should implement tables for these forums... hit the link for details... 2011 Ford Mustang Track Shoot-Out

Regardless, the '12 302 Laguna Seca came in @ 12.7, & the GT500 tied us @ 12.6.

Wonder where all that weight saving & extra 80 horses go when you floor the Shelby!? ;) All in fun. If I had enough money, they'd all have a place in my garage. It really is great to see the competition heating up again though.

Ford is clearly sand-bagging the power rating on the Boss 302. There is no way an additional 32 HP and 10 lb-ft less torque will drop the 1/4-mile time by 0.5 seconds and add 4 MPH of trap speed. In fact Motor Trend ripped off a 12.3 @ 116 pass, which is astonishing. I'd like to see what that engine truly dynos at with the 'track key' enabled.

But then again, C&D ripped off a 4.3 sec 0-60 and 12.8 @113 for the 2012 Boss 302 they used in their May 2011 issue.

(As a side note: Motor Trend also got a 4.4 sec 0-60 and 12.7 sec @ 111.3 mph quarter mile time for a 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 they tested last year).

Wow, magazine testing is begining to look like dyno testing...
