I have a 15 SXT+ equipped with the factory reverse camera. For the past year or so, when I put it in reverse.. It gives me a blue screen and says Camera System Unavailable. It most cases it works fine. This only happens intermittently.

Any ideas what could be wrong or has anyone else experienced this issue?

This is an issue randomly among many models, Ram Trucks, Minivans. The Ram truck guys say it's the connector in the tailgate. I would suspect the connector at the camera for yours (also likely easier to check than removing the head unit, which isn't too hard). Maybe not 100% plugged in, or a short (as in not long enough) pin, bent pin, etc. Something that usually makes contact, but occasionally due to temp, vibrations, closing trunk doesn't quite make contact. They often note if they turn the car off and back on again, it's working.

Google: dodge chrysler Camera System Unavailable

And you'll see lots of hits, mostly Ram. Makes sense with the tailgate being involved

Hello Monvrch,

We apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing with your back up camera. If you decide you want to get this looked at by the dealer, let us know. We'd be glad to get this process started.
