why the windows roll up/down slightly when i open/close the doors?
It is called SmartGlass technology, and it allows coupes and convertible door glass to seal better reducing wind noise. Try closing your door if the battery is dead, the top of the glass will sit on the outside of the weatherstripping.

BMW's, Mustangs and Camaros have this that I know of. If you see some of the posts on this forum though from Canada or in the very cold states in winter the window sometimes will not drop as it freezes and is a pain to deal with until it melts free.

Along with allowing for a better seal, It decreases the pressure in the car as you close the door, which makes it easier to close.

this is what i have been told by a mercedes mechanic i know, nothing to do with seal but it eliminates that air pressure when you shut the door.
