I just picked up some SRT Black Pocket rims and want to clean them up. They are the machine/black ones and I know they have a clear coat finish. The previous owner had plasti dipped the black pockets matte and one looks like it had a number written on and is still noticeable. The plastidip was not sprayed on thick so it's coming off in thousands of pieces. I was thinking about using goo-gone or goof-off. Would this damage the clear coat? I have used it on cars and it has not damaged the clear coat. Also, could I use meguiars scratch-x to get rid of the fine scratches and that number that is still noticeable?

Any help would be appreciated.
