Just got back last night from a trip and needed to get the bugs off the front this morning. So sad how much abuse the nose's of these cars get. Mine is not a garage queen by any means but still sucks to see the nicks and such from the road. Oh well she can't stay new forever.

It's character, and a reminder of fun trips and good memories. Nobody looks at an immaculate front end with 2500 miles and says "Look at all those summers I didn't drive my car! Good times."

Agreed. I have babied probably 10 expensive sports/muscle cars in the last 20 years. And I don't have a single one of them anymore. Now, I have my 17 Scat, and I drive it every day. Lots of smiles and rock chips. And honestly, I won't have this car forever either. But I will remember how awesome it was to DD a 485hp muscle car everyday. Yolo.

I got tired of the daily road debris messing up my car and thats why I put the Xpel on the front and the hood. No damage and I have 11,000 miles on my T/A now. All the bugs wipe right off and no rock chips nor have I had to do any touch-ups.

If I was going to use mine as a DD and have it for quite a few years I'd DEFINATELY have the front end and about a quarter way up the front of the hood sealed with something.

Someone summarized it best when they said, "not driving your car is like saving your wife for her next husband." :laugh2:

Same here. It was well worth the investment. I'm doing rockers now, as you all know that they get just destroyed with the wider wheels and tires on the Challenger.

I drove about 4000 mi to the mid west and back to new england. Lots of bugs but no rock chips in 12k miles total. i keep my distance from trucks and don't tailgate. When I need to get around trucks I wait for enough room to blow by them as quick as possible vice running beside them for miles due to idiots that are going 1 mph faster than the trucks and forcing you to take miles to get away from them.

You wanna talk about nicks and scratches, you should have seen all the nicks, scratches, chips, scrapes, and gouges I had on my 4 door (former cop car) when I got it (@100K miles). Evidently chasing crooks and cracking the skulls of beatniks is hell on a paint job becuase I’ve spent every evening for the last 2 weeks hitting mine with touch-up paint and even some spray can paint to try to hide the worse ones and disappear the little ones.

I’ve got it looking exponentially better from 5 ft away, but if you get up real close you can see where I’ve done my doctoring. Looks like the surface of the moon in some spots if you’re really up close and personal.

But with a little buffing and polishing, I’ve managed to bring several of the body panels back from the dead pretty nicely.

You shoulda left those character marks, painted "Mt. Prospect Police" on the side, and done a Blues-mobile tribute car. Maybe an "N1" on the side instead of "P1" to make it personalize to the "Nuke".

That might be fun for everyone else, but it would be decidedly UNfun for me.

I've only had the car a few weeks and I've already been stopped twice for non-existent reasons. The last officer even told me that I was going to continue to be a target as long as I drove this car. I am guessing he meant that I would continue to get stopped for BS reasons as long as I drive a car which looks a lot like a cop car. That's a bummer, but honestly they were already stopping me all the time in my Challengers for breaking actual traffic laws, so it's been a breath of fresh air to be able to drive away from such stops without any citations.

Just think of the money I've saved in such a short time by not having any tickets to pay off!! :grin2:

Keep the faith brother. If they're messin' with you, they ain't messin' with someone else. You're doing the hot-rodding society a service by being a distraction on your particular stretch of highway.

Have you posted any photos of the Nuke-mobile? I'd love to see it.

Yeah, but mostly over on the Charger forum, and seeing as we do not allow (and actively watch for) fraudulent LX’ers who might be trying to peruse our threads without having the requisite 4 doors, I’ll need to put some here on CT I can refer to.

(Seriously, we don’t like y’all over here on CT, with your 2 doors and all, and we don’t allow you in OUR forum!)

Which is fine, I’ve been meaning to create a thread in the CT detailing section with before/after pics of my paint repair efforts. So I’ll do that and drop a link in here so you can follow it to check out The Bacon Hauler...or The Pork Wagon...I haven’t decided on a good name for her yet, but those are the leading candidates.

<groan>

Oh @A Guy.....

We’ve interacted here on CT enough over the years that I’ve come to think of you as a friend. And then you go and create a post with so little effort, so little little imagination, so little...well, let’s just say this sort of low-hanging fruit is beneath you.

You are capable of so much more. I know you can do better, I’ve seen it! Now take a bit, grab a smoke/coffee/whatever soothes your soul, and try again.

And I should point out that continued posts of this sort - lacking in imagination and effort - will endanger your chances of getting to ride in The Bacon Hauler. Or at the very least, it will ensure you are relegated to the back seat. (And that’s something you don’t want because then I will be in charge of when/if you can exit the vehicle!)

It’s about as funny as me getting stopped by the cops while I’m driving a (former) cop car. Sure there was some humor at first, but it has become stale and frankly a little irksome.

The most recent (tonight!) manufactured reason for interrupting my nightly cruise was no front license plate. That would normally be fine to stop me for that since I am without one at the moment. However, I am still on the temp tags, so THERE IS NO FRONT PLATE TO DISPLAY!!!

<sigh>

But I digest...

Cops - they love to mess with me...always have, always will.

What Charger forum to you post on? I troll some of them so I can continuously point out that their car is not a muscle car, just a family sedan with a good motor, a slander on the Charger legacy, and that the 300 is a far cooler gangster-mobile. I didn't see "Nuke" on any of them when looking for your bacon-buggy. Using an alias to hide-out on Charger forums? We'll understand if you are.
