We all know that these engines make a racket with upper valve noise on startup when they've been sitting a while. Mine seems too make the initial clacking sound after sitting only 10 minutes. Goes away in a few seconds. Brand new Scat oil is full. Is the oil filter drain back valve not working?

You might want to try swapping out the oil filter - easy to do and cheap item.

It could be the drain back valve in the filter doesn't seat correctly and doesn't provide the anti- drain back function as it should.

If it's not valve train noise you are hearing, it might be the active exhaust butterflies cycling. You can really hear them if you use remote start - first I get the fuel pump sound, then a nice "click clack" from the butterfly valves - then it's fun time. :)

My 2016 did this after installing a SRT oil filter. No valve chatter with the smaller filter. My 2020 R/T 50 (345) makes no valve noise at start-up. Stock filter.
