I've searched all over this forum and google and nobody with the Pentastar seems to have my exact problem, and all similar problems point to cylinder head failure (Gosh I hope not!).
So here's the skinny guys, I've got a 2012 SXT with about 34K on it and I noticed the infamous clicking/tapping under the hood when accelerating, but only if the temperature is around 70*F or lower, if it heats up past that I can't hear anything. The sound is worse when the engine it's self is cold and it will quiet down but it's loud enough that when it's cold out I hear it all the time. The dealer won't do anything without it throwing a code first. They heard the noise and said it was just noisy chains as this engine has 4 in it. Now if that's the case I can live with that. And honestly it doesn't sound like it's deep enough in the engine to be detonation. On a side note I should say this usually only comes from the center/driver's side of the engine.
I'm at a loss and honestly I've been told not to worry about it enough times I might just accept the fact that the Pentastar is just different from other engine blocks and is prone to thermal sensitivity resulting in weird noises from under the hood. Any input (within reason) would be most appreciated and I apologize if someone else has posted this problem before and I missed it.
